One for the Road

Newton: I know you’ve been waiting since last week to find out what happened with that amazing building I was negotiating for Ashton to use for her chicken emporium. It didn’t go well. The current owners didn’t want to sell. Not even when I offered them my favorite catnip toy.

Newton: I thought the news would be easier for Ashton if I brought a little something back for her. But there’s a little problem… It was a long drive back, and I got kind of hungry.

Ashton: Hey, Newton! What do you have there?

Newton: Oh, hi. I didn’t see you. Did you hear what I was saying about your chicken emporium building?

Ashton: I heard. It’s okay. I’ll find a place.

Newton: Well… this is for you. I’ve got to go. You know, realtor cat business.

Ashton: You brought me chicken? Wow, thanks! * SNIFF SNIFF * Hey, this is empty. NEWTON! Where did you go?

Ashton: He teased me with chicken? That’s just low. Lower than low.

Ashton: What do you think I should do to show Newton he shouldn’t tease me like that?

Good Help is Hard to Find

Ashton: Will you please clean this window? Cat TV looks like it has static. Good help is so hard to find.

brown tabby cat looks out dirty window

Since she only sees out of one eye, Ashton often sits with half of her face obscured behind something like the window pane in the photo above. It’s one of her cute quirks.

The window pane Ashton is looking out in the photo almost never sees direct sunlight, but it gets daily rain and all day Florida humidity, so it gets dirty fast. Ashton obviously disapproves, and it has since been cleaned up for her viewing convenience. After all, the cats are the ones in charge around here.

Relaxing on Labor Day

Ashton: Hey, Pierre?

Pierre: Zzzzzzzzzz…..

Ashton: PIERRE?

Pierre: Hmm? What? Is it dinner time?

Ashton: Why is it important for us to observe labor day? We cats don’t labor. We do everything we can to avoid anything like labor.

Pierre: You woke me up for that? It’s the end of the summer. For a lot of humans, this is their last chance to have cookouts and stuff.

Ashton: It’s about food? I can celebrate that!

Pierre: Not exactly about food. Everything isn’t always about food.

Ashton: Want to bet?

Pierre: * SIGH *

Ashton: Okay, okay, what else is it about?

Pierre: It’s about the weather. Leaves will start falling off of trees near the houses of some of our friends soon, and it will be cool out.

Ashton: And we can have the windows open so I can smell the wild?

Pierre: Soon. We’re in Florida, so it gets here later. For now, go back to sleep and enjoy relaxing on Labor Day.

Ashton: I’m going to dream about open windows. And chicken.

We hope that our friends who are celebrating the end of summer with Labor Day are enjoying the holiday!

Chicken Real Estate

Ashton: What’s with the hat, Newt?

Newton: I’m wearing my hat because today I’m real estate cat.

Ashton: Are you going out to sell real estate to support your catnip habit or something?

Newton: That’s not a bad idea! But no… I wanted to talk to you about where you’re going to put your chicken emporium.

Ashton: What about it?

Newton: You know how business is all about location, location, location?

Ashton: I’ve heard that.

Newton? I found the perfect location! We just have to convince the current owners to sell.
