When the head peep attends BlogPaws later this year, Ashton can’t go, so a stand-in was necessary. After some searching, and a little arts and crafts, there’s a new one-eyed kitty in the house.
Does anyone have suggestions about what the little plush kitty with the eyepatch should be named?
Several of you have asked for updates on Ashton.
She still seems to feel all right, though the infection on her tummy looks pretty ugly. She is getting more stressed out by the day by having to take medicine. The current routine is that sometime after the head peep comes home, Ashton ventures out of the bedroom, and the doors to the bedroom doors are closed. Ashton then notices that the bedroom doors are closed and starts to sing the song of her people. Sometimes she gives up and lets the head peep catch her, and sometimes she leads a merry chase that requires moving furniture, but she continues to sing through getting her medicine, then she goes and hides between the shelf and the wall in the sunroom.
After three days of the new antibiotic, she is showing more signs of stress daily, but at least she is getting medicated. We are hoping to see results soon.
The vet wants to recheck her in a few more days. We know she looks worse than when he last saw her, so we aren’t sure what will happen next. We suspect it will involve e-collars. Good thing the head peep cleaned the coat closet and found four of them today.
(Yes, we have more cones than cats… it’s a very long story.)
Ashton thanks everyone for their good thoughts on her behalf, and she promises to continue to sing the song of her people whenever the bedroom door is closed. She is also trying to figure out how to get the plush cat with the eyepatch to take the medicine in her place, but so far, no luck…
