Staying Warm

Pierre: Florida got really cold last week, and I decided I wasn’t coming out from under here until it warmed back up. Except for dinner.

Newton: The head peep put a heated blanket on the bed. She said the blanket is meant for putting over humans, but it works really well under cats.

Cupcake: Who says Mr. Newton gets to keep the warm blanket? I like it, especially at night. And if I like something around here, it’s mine.

Ashton: I just find a sunny spot to keep warm. Like this one. There are enough sunny spots that I don’t have to share with other cats sitting too close to me.

We hope the rest of our friends who are in places even colder than Florida are finding ways to stay warm, too.

Hurrying Up a Late Dinner

Pierre: Dinner is late! I had better find out what is causing the problem.

Pierre: I found the problem. The head peep is still doing things with her computer instead of being in the kitchen feeding us. Don’t worry, I can fix this. Do you see this button in front of me? I know what it does.

Pierre: I’m starting to lean on this elbow. You might want to get in the kitchen now before I make you make that squawking noise.

Triple Vet Visit

Both Pierre and Newton went to visit the vet the same day last week. Pierre was scheduled for his six month senior exam, and Newton was scheduled for a dental cleaning.

One of the fun things about going to our vet is seeing the names of the other cats who are coming in that day. I want to meet the person who named their cat Xanax. Not to mention Kittenator!

Pierre got examined first thing. He was such a good boy for his weigh in.

I had been worried that he may have lost weight, but it was only a fraction of an ounce. If he hadn’t had to skip breakfast because of Newton’s dental, he probably would have weighed more than during his last visit.

He was really patient for the rest of his exam, too.

Pierre: It would be okay if we just skipped this part, though. I’m perfect!

While getting Newton’s paperwork in order for his dental procedure, I let him out of his carrier for a few minutes. He took the opportunity to check on his brother.

Newton: What are you in for?  Orange tabby cat looks into sleepypod carrier at gray tabby cat

Usually, when Newton is loose in the exam room, he is running all over, and he is especially trying to get out the back door to the procedure area. It was interesting to see him choosing to stay close to Pierre, instead.

Newton: Don’t worry, I know the way out. It’s that door. My girlfriend lives back there.

Pierre: I’m fine right here, thanks.

Newton’s dental went fine, and he has nice, clean teeth now.

When it was time to pick him up, I brought Cupcake with me for a weigh-in. People have been asking me how much she weighs recently, and I didn’t know, so this was an opportunity to find out. She weighs almost 8 lbs now!

She considered climbing up onto Dr. Avok’s shoulder until she realized “You aren’t my human!”

New Year’s Resolutions

Ashton: It’s the beginning of the year, and that means it’s time for everyone to make some resolutions.

Cupcake: What’s a resolution, Miss Ashton?

Ashton: It’s when you decide what you’re going to do this year. Like I resolve to build my first outlet of Ashton’s Chicken Emporium this year.

Cupcake: What if you don’t do the resolution? Does something bad happen?

Ashton: Nothing happens. Humans don’t keep their resolutions most of the time, so if we don’t, it’s okay.

Cupcake: Well in that case, I resolve to learn to wear hats. I really don’t like hats, but the humans really want me to wear them.

Newton: Don’t give in about the hat, kid. Trust me.

Cupcake: Do you have a resolution, Mr. Newton?

Newton: I resolve to let you catch my glorious tail. Once. Maybe.

Pierre: None of you are taking this seriously.

Ashton: You can say that wearing that hat?

Pierre: I resolve to give the humans lots more cuddles this year.

Cupcake: That sounds like a resolution we can all keep, Mr. Pierre.

All of you hope you have a wonderful year ahead, full of laughter and love. And cat cuddles, too.
