Pierre’s Red Dot

Every evening after dinner, Pierre gets up on the coffee table to look in the shell bowl that holds the TV control. He knows there is something else that lives in the bowl.

Pierre: Is it red dot time now? I’m asking nicely!

Pierre: I see you, red dot!

Pierre: It’s so close!

Pierre: How did it get out from under my paw? The red dot is so sneaky.

Does the red dot visit your house, too?

Outtakes from Secret Paws Day

The day we opened our secret paws gifts was kind of chaotic around here, in no small part because somekitty whose name starts with P kept finding bows no matter where the humans hid them. Though the holiday season is behind us and we’re headed into 2017, we wanted to share some behind-the-scenes from that day as outtakes.

Ashton: I hear you chewing up there. Do you have something to eat that you aren’t sharing with us? No fair holding out!

Pierre: This isn’t food, Ashton. It’s better than food.

Ashton: Well, if it’s not food, I’m outta here. There must be something to eat around here somewhere. I haven’t had anything since breakfast and that was at least an hour ago.

Newton: So now that she’s gone, it’s just us guys. You’re going to share with me, right?

Pierre: * CHOMP * Nope. I had to dig this bow out from under the pillow and it’s all mine. Go find your own bow!

Pierre: Oops!

Newton: * SNIFF * It smells like Pierre spit.

Newton: I don’t get it. What’s the big deal with the bows?

Pierre: You aren’t a gourmet like I am, so you’ll never understand, Newt.

Safety Note

Ribbon can be dangerous for your cat if ingested, and bows are really just ribbon in disguise. So avoid potential big vet bills don’t let your cat chew on bows unattended. When we finished taking these photos, these bows were placed in a plastic food container to keep Pierre safe from them. It was the only place in the house Pierre couldn’t get to them.

Outsmarting the Humans

Ashton: It’s important to outsmart your humans to get what you want. I outsmarted mine recently.

Ashton: It all started when my chicken emporium got a surprise package from our friend at Tails from the Foster Kittens. It included a chicken quilt. That quilt is eventually going to go inside my chicken emporium when Target builds me chicken emporium building for National Chicken Day. Until then, the head peep thought the quilt belonged on the indent I have created on the back of the sofa. She called it my chicken throne.

Ashton: You can imagine how happy she was when the manpeep said, “Come quick and see Ashton on the chicken quilt!” She ran out into the sunroom to see.

Ashton: It took her a minute to realize that I was not sitting on this unexpected thing. Not really. But I was still in my spot the best I could and still sit in my usual location.

Ashton: This went on for days. I didn’t sit in my spot as often because of this intruder. Then Pierre started sitting in my spot when I wasn’t looking!

Pierre: I don’t see what the big deal is, Ash. This is kind of comfy.

Ashton: The head peep finally gave in and moved it for Pierre. I outsmarted her.

Pierre: Score! I don’t know why you call that outsmarting. I’m the big winner here. I love this quilt!

Ashton: And I love my spot just the way it always was.

Ashton: It’s important for us cats to get humans to do what we want every single time. Have you ever outsmarted your humans?

A Mystery Package

Pierre: Hey, Ashton, what are you up to?

Ashton: I think I got mail.

Pierre: Your chicken emporium got mail! And it’s from our friend Connie at Tails from the Foster Kittens. She knows all the best cat stuff, so it must have something great inside.

Ashton: I can’t get it open. The humans need to use those metal claw things to help so we can see what’s inside.

Pierre: Why don’t you find them and get them to help? I’ll wait right here.

Ashton: Okay.

Pierre: I can’t believe she fell for that one. she has claws to open things just like I do. Let’s see what Connie sent to Ashton.

Pierre looks inside envelope

Pierre: OMC, it’s a chicken, and it’s full of catnip!

Pierre: Not just any catnip, but really, really good catnip. I’ve got to rub this on my stripes right now!

Pierre: What? You’ve never seen a cat rub chicken-shaped catnip on his stripes before?

Pierre: There’s more in the package, but I’ll get back to it later. Right now, I need to say thank you to Connie for being so thoughtful to send a surprise to Ashton. I might even share it with her when she finally comes back with someone to cut the envelope open.

Pierre: Especially big thanks because the head peep had a rough time this holiday season, and your package made her laugh a lot when she needed things to smile about. She is lucky to know people like you. Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to drool on this catnip a bit more…
