Outtakes from Secret Paws Day

The day we opened our secret paws gifts was kind of chaotic around here, in no small part because somekitty whose name starts with P kept finding bows no matter where the humans hid them. Though the holiday season is behind us and we’re headed into 2017, we wanted to share some behind-the-scenes from that day as outtakes.

Ashton: I hear you chewing up there. Do you have something to eat that you aren’t sharing with us? No fair holding out!

Pierre: This isn’t food, Ashton. It’s better than food.

Ashton: Well, if it’s not food, I’m outta here. There must be something to eat around here somewhere. I haven’t had anything since breakfast and that was at least an hour ago.

Newton: So now that she’s gone, it’s just us guys. You’re going to share with me, right?

Pierre: * CHOMP * Nope. I had to dig this bow out from under the pillow and it’s all mine. Go find your own bow!

Newton: * SNIFF * It smells like Pierre spit.

Newton: I don’t get it. What’s the big deal with the bows?

Pierre: You aren’t a gourmet like I am, so you’ll never understand, Newt.

Safety Note

Ribbon can be dangerous for your cat if ingested, and bows are really just ribbon in disguise. So avoid potential big vet bills don’t let your cat chew on bows unattended. When we finished taking these photos, these bows were placed in a plastic food container to keep Pierre safe from them. It was the only place in the house Pierre couldn’t get to them.

Hi. My name is Bear and I’m a bow addict. My Momma keeps them in the same closet as my carrier … yet even the threat of a game of hide the thermometer isn’t enough to deter me from my secret obsession. I have no reservations about ripping bows off wrapped packages either … despite the threat of an encounter with my most evil foe, tape.

William loved loved loved bows! In fact, our mom kept one just for him that he used to bliss out on (under supervision, of course). The only ribbon fiend we have now prefers real grosgrain ribbon, and this year the red ribbon Mom put on a statuette somehow “came off.” The ribbons holding the chair pads also routinely–and mysteriously–undone.

There are no bows in this house mainly because they would definitely get chewed up.

Too bad my furrends Winston and Hollie are OTRB. They were bow addicts and could recommend a rehab place. I love when TW has dangly ribbon but she usually doesn’t use bows on anything for some reason.

Derry is the chewer here, so I don’t keep bows or ribbon out. It looks like they had great supervised fun, though!

Good luck to Newton next week, with the dental. Here’s hoping the final tally is less than the estimate. I know I had hoped for $800, budgeted for $1200. It would have been just over $700 plus tax without the ultrasound, though, so the dental portion actually was reasonable for clinics here.

I wonder if Pierre likes the scent of the bow material. I had a kitty who went bonkers for bandaids.
