The Whiskered Photobomer
Newton: Oh, hey, what’s this? It must be one of the Peach Industries kickers that we won from the Glogirly drawing. (Thanks, Katie and Waffles!) You know, I was wondering what happened to them. I thought Pierre was hoarding them under the bed in the spare room. Wow, this smells pawesome!

Newton: Let me just rub some drool on here to warm things up, and…

Ashton: Hi, everybody! How are you doing today?
Newton: Go away, Ashton. I was about to demonstrate my kicking technique and show off my rear claws.

Newton: ASHTON!
Ashton: Did you hear something? Me either.

Newton: * sigh *
Ashton: She who photobombs best always wins. Right, kitties?

Unwelcome Visitor
Neighbor cat: Oh, hi!
Newton: Hi, neighbor! How are you today? Do you want to play a game?
Ashton: * grrrrrrrrrrrr *

Neighbor cat: I’m fine. How are you? I’m just passing through as I make my rounds. I didn’t expect anyone to be here.
Newton: We’re enjoying the screened porch. We aren’t out here often, so I’m not surprised you didn’t expect us.
Ashton: * grrrrrrrrrrrrr *

Ashton: * SCREE! *
Newton: Holy cat, Ash. Who taught you to talk like that? It isn’t ladylike at all!

Neighbor Cat: I’ll just be going…
Newton: But don’t you want to play a game?
Ashton: I told HIM!

The head peep is away at a conference, learning new things with around with a bunch of veterinarians, so if you don’t see us commenting on other blogs this week, it’s all her fault. We just hope she doesn’t come back smelling like the vet…
The Thing Under the Sofa Cover
How many of you kitties wait for your humans at the door when they get home? Newton sometimes does that, but Ashton never does. She learned a long time ago that the head peep often walks in carrying shopping bags or has a bulky purse that frightens her, so she waits patiently on her spot in the sunroom sofa for the head peep to come in and say hello.

We and the cats who came before us have pressed a deep indentation into the cushion of the sofa back that no amount of humans plumping the cushion will ever remove. They tried. The deep, nest-like sides of this favorite sleeping spot make it that much more comfortable.
When the head peep walked in to say hello to Ashton the other day and didn’t see here there, she was surprised at first that her prized napping spot was empty of anything except a whole lot of cat hair.

Then the head peep realized that the indentation on the back of the sofa wasn’t quite as indented as it usually was. It looked like someone had shoved a pillow under the sofa cover.
She picked up the edge of the sofa cushion and peered underneath, and two green eyes blinked back at her.

If only someone had been around to record the moment when Ashton tried to sit in her usual spot and discovered it was occupied by something moving underneath the sofa cover!
Making a thoroughly annoyed face at being disturbed, Pierre emerged from his hiding place.

At least Ashton could have it back now.
