How many of you kitties wait for your humans at the door when they get home? Newton sometimes does that, but Ashton never does. She learned a long time ago that the head peep often walks in carrying shopping bags or has a bulky purse that frightens her, so she waits patiently on her spot in the sunroom sofa for the head peep to come in and say hello.

We and the cats who came before us have pressed a deep indentation into the cushion of the sofa back that no amount of humans plumping the cushion will ever remove. They tried. The deep, nest-like sides of this favorite sleeping spot make it that much more comfortable.
When the head peep walked in to say hello to Ashton the other day and didn’t see here there, she was surprised at first that her prized napping spot was empty of anything except a whole lot of cat hair.

Then the head peep realized that the indentation on the back of the sofa wasn’t quite as indented as it usually was. It looked like someone had shoved a pillow under the sofa cover.
She picked up the edge of the sofa cushion and peered underneath, and two green eyes blinked back at her.

If only someone had been around to record the moment when Ashton tried to sit in her usual spot and discovered it was occupied by something moving underneath the sofa cover!
Making a thoroughly annoyed face at being disturbed, Pierre emerged from his hiding place.

At least Ashton could have it back now.

Oh! I can only imagine what Ashton must have thought!
MOL that must have been a big surprise for both of them!
The Florida Furkids
MOL! That was quite the surprise for Ashton!
I bet you certainly surprised both Asthon and your peeps, Pierre. Sometimes there are things moving under the blankets of my couch, and it sure surprises me. Purrs!
Pierre, that looks like a super duper place for a nap. Nice and cozy warm. Poor Ashton. You all have a great day.
we have a cover on our sofa too….and towels underneath since some orange menace sleeps UNDER the cover. and we have that same indentation too – MOL
That is funny.
That’s so funny! I’m often surprised by lumps in the middle of the bed and then find Soth has burrowed between the layers of sheets on the bed.
Ashton we wish you had managed to keep your lovely comfy spot on the sofa. If Pierre tries to take your special place again we suggest you push him off.
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
That would have been a priceless moment to witness LOL!
Oh yea, that would be a bit confusing!!!
Pierre was thinking that you weren’t supposed to find him while he lay in wait for Ashton..
I occasionally have a cat under the covers next to me when another cat comes up to cuddle, the one walking over rarely cares that they are stepping on a cat, and the one being stepped on rarely cares either.. I’m the one that seems to have the biggest reaction so I am working on ignoring the whole thing
Dunno why Ashton didn’t just lay on top of him. HAH! The peeps’ sofa in the other house used to have an identation in the back of the couch where Autumn laid.
We’re pretty certain Pierre would have made it all the more warm and comfy for you, Ashton.
Jewel liked to be under covers, too. We usually come out once the mom has put her stuff down so she can pet and feed us. We think Ashton has the right idea – wait for the human to come to you. 🙂
Haaaaaaaaaaa!!! That’s MY boy!!!! xoxo

That would have been a big surprise for Ashton! My mum calls me a mole when I do that.
Ashton must have been surprised ! Purrs
MOL! Pierre does look a bit perturbed. Yes, we can imagine how surprised Ashton was!
Poor Ashton! Poor Pierre!
Derby used to be at the door almost all the time. Mum thinks he was looking to see if he could get outside! Me, I sometimes meet her at the door, but not always. Today no, as I was getting all warms by the heaty spot.
Poor Pierre lost his cozy spot.
Raven wants to greet us at the door, but like Ashton, she’s afraid of bulky things we might be carrying and hangs back a bit.
We only see TBT returning home after an hour food-hunting. A longer absence would be quite odd. And concerning.
MOL!
Buster knows the sound of the humans’ cars. Even if he’s sleeping, he will bolt out of the bed and run downstairs to meet them.

hilarious! Cats are such funny creatures!
ooooh, we bet it was very cozy and warm under there, though!
What a surprise! Was it cozy under there?
Pierre looks so cute peeking out, and we can tell he was miffed at being disturbed. Lisbeth loves to sleep under the covers, and Mauricio will come along and try to lie right on top of her. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
