Gingerbread House, Part Two

Newton: Come out of my house!

Pierre: Your house? I didn’t see your name on the mailbox. It looks like my house.

House_Pierre_Newton_03_wm

Pierre: Let me just take a little taste…. yep, tastes like my house, too.

Newton: Don’t get your spit on my house!

House_Pierre_Newton_02_wm

Pierre: And now you need to get out of my yard.

Newton: This isn’t a yard. It’s the sunroom, and I live here, too.

House_Pierre_Newton_07_wm

Pierre: Oh, yeah? I’ll show you whose yard this is!

Newton: *GASP* Pierre, can’t we talk about this?

House_Pierre_Newton_08_wm

Pierre: I’m gonna get you!

Newton: Ashton, help me!

House_Pierre_Newton_09_wm

Ashton: You boys are crazy!

Pierre: *BAM*  *HISS*

Newton: *WHACK*

House_Pierre_Newton_10_wm

Pierre: Check out my karate moves!

Newton: I’m outta here.

House_Pierre_Newton_11_wm

Pierre: Do you surrender? *BONK*

Newton: You knocked the house off its foundation. Ashton, you’re a witness! He broke the house!

House_Pierre_Newton_12_wm

Pierre: I didn’t do anything. You can’t prove it.

Newton: Well, it wasn’t me.

Pierre: Maybe it was Ashton.

The Little Gingerbread House

While the head peep was shopping at Target last weekend, she managed to score one of those cardboard gingerbread houses that seem to be all the rage in the blogosphere this year.

Pierre had some question about whether this should actually be Newton’s new address or his own.

Newton: I like this. Kind of roomy, with a nice view of the sunroom.

Pierre: What are you doing in there, Newton?

House_Pierre_Newton_00_wm

Newton: I’m just checking out this real estate listing. It looks like it will be a nice little rental place for me to hang out, don’t you think?

Pierre: I think that it’s not a friendly neighborhood for you. *POKE*

Newton: Hey! Bring that paw back over here while I’m paying attention.

House_Pierre_Newton_04_wm

Pierre: I’ll show you what happens to paws that hang out of windows!

House_Pierre_Newton_05_wm

Newton: Come on, Pierre. Let’s just be friends and share the little gingerbread house. Can we shake on it?

What do you think that Pierre’s answer will be?

Thanksigving Holiday Dinner Safety for Cats

The big Thanksgiving holiday. It’s a time many of us spend with family and friends, and one of the centerpieces of the holiday for most families is the big Thanksgiving dinner.

Your cat may have varying opinions about this.

Ashton: When do they serve the turkey?

Ashton thinks about turkey

Newton: Forget turkey. I want to dive into the whipped cream!

Pierre: Does this mean visitors for dinner? Tell me when they’re gone.

Cats like Pierre are mostly immune to Thanksgiving dinner hazards, but cats like Newton and Ashton will put on their holiday best to be able to share in your Thanksiving feast. Is it safe to share with them?

A little taste of boneless, well-cooked turkey is safe for your cat, but hold the stuffing! Stuffing usually contains onions, which aren’t safe for cats. Sweet potatoes are safe, but don’t share them if you don’t know what they were prepared with, the essential oils in some herbs and spices can cause gastrointestinal upset. Similarly, pumpkin, which vets recommend for feline constipation, isn’t the same thing as a pumpkin pie full of spices. Consider holding a little pumpkin aside when making your pie if you want to share with your kitty.

The most important thing is moderation. A little taste of your mashed potatoes is all right, but your cat doesn’t need a meal of them. Kitties may love the novelty of interesting food smells at the holidays, but share sparingly and keep up their regular diet to avoid upset stomachs.
