Scratcher Face-Off

Cupcake: * wiggles excitedly *

Newton: Hi, kid.

Cupcake: Umm… Hi, Mr. Newton! What are you doing?

Newton: I was sniffing the catnip, before I was interrupted.

Cupcake: Catnip is icky. That’s OK, you can have it all to yourself.

Newton: Where did you go, kid?

Cupcake: I’m right here!

Newton: Hey, don’t scare me like that. And don’t stand on the catnip.

Cupcake: Why all the rules? I liked it better when I was going to pounce on him.

While the Kitten’s Away

Ashton: Some of you have asked how the rest of us are doing while Cupcake is out having adventures, so we thought this was a good time to update you.

Ashton: While Cupcake is visiting with her fans at the local coffee shop…

Ashton: I’m enjoying not having to watch my back all the time.

Ashton: What do you think Cupcake is doing right now?

Pierre: She’s probably eating a second breakfast.

Ashton: No fair! Do you really think so?

Pierre: I don’t care. I am going to enjoy napping while she’s gone.

Ashton: As long as she’s somewhere else.

Pierre: You could be somewhere else if you won’t let me sleep. Maybe you could go with her next time.

Ashton: I don’t think so.

Newton: Don’t tell the others, but I kind of miss her when she’s gone.

Newton’s Vet Visit

Newton: I went to the vet this week! I have been snorting and gurgling when I purr, and I even lost my voice for a while. My voice was back by the time I went to the vet, though, and I sang the song of my people all the way there.

Dr. Avok vet says I lost a quarter of a pound. I think that is from chasing Cupcake around the house.

I like everyone at my vet’s office! Every time my vet or her technician walked out the door, I wanted to follow them.

Usually, I couldn’t quite make it out the door and had to settle for roaming around the exam room.

One time, when Dr. Avok wasn’t fast enough, I followed her right out into the treatment area. She gave me a big hug and brought me back to my humans in the exam room. She’s really nice, but she doesn’t have as much of a sense of adventure as I do.

If I couldn’t go visit the other vet techs in the treatment area, decided I might as well wait in my Sleepypod until I got my treatment plan.

Dr. Avok says I have post nasal drip, just like humans get, maybe from a mild upper respiratory infection or from allergies. I’ll be taking some medicine to clear it up. No big deal.

If I can’t follow anyone into the treatment area again, can we go out the other door? There’s a kitten at home I need to chase.

Whose Box?

Cupcake: Hi, Mr. Pierre! Have you seen my springs?

Pierre: No springs here. Just my box, sorry.

Cupcake: The humans said we were getting new springs in the box with the cat litter.

Pierre: Well, do you see any cat litter? I don’t look like cat litter.

Cupcake: You’re kind of round like a cat litter bag. Like the bag I saw the manpeep take out of that box earlier.

Pierre: Round? I’m not round.

Cupcake: Never mind. That box looks comfortable. Can I come in?

Pierre: No. It’s a single-occupancy box, and I was here first.

Cupcake: But I want to get into the box.

Cupcake: Ready or not, here I come!

Pierre: Paws off my box, kitten!   * HISS *

Cupcake: Did you HEAR that language? Mr. Newton! Mr. Pierre is being mean to me!

Newton: What did you do to the kid?

Pierre: Nothing! I just said this was my box.

Cupcake: My springs! I see them! He was hiding them the whole time!

Newton: Oh, Pierre, you didn’t.

Cupcake: He did!

Pierre: I’m getting ganged up on here. Can’t a cat enjoy his box in peace?
