Packing to Fly Away

Cupcake: I get on an airplane today to fly to Kansas City, so I have packed all the important things in my suitcase.

Cupcake: Since I eat a raw diet, I packed some freeze-dried food. And I packed treats, of course. Also, I have my harness and leash, because I don’t want to get lost during my trip.

Ashton: How much cat litter do you think you can fit in that thing?

Cupcake:  I’m not going to worry about that. The humans will take care of that … right?

Newton: Is it too late to put a one-way tag on this thing?

Cupcake: I’m all packed, and I can’t wait to meet all my friends in Kansas City this week!

DôyenCat Treat Toy Party

Ashton: Did someone say treat toy party?

Ashton: Oh, yeah, kitty, yeah.

How does this thing work, anyhow?

Cupcake: What happened to our DôyenCat?

If you saw Cupcake’s lesson from Newton on how to play with the DôyenCat, you might have wondered how the food got inside that PVC toy. The whole top screws off.

What you wouldn’t ever expect is that there’s an additional reservoir at the top where you can put something you don’t want to fall out of the treat dispensing hole… like catnip. Who said the party is over when the treats are gone?

Newton: Party on!

Belated Birthday

If you follow us on social media, you know that last Wednesday was Cupcake’s first birthday. She had a great day, including a surprise gift from her foster mom, Miss Jeanne from Random Felines. She received a new sock monkey.

You may recall that Cupcake came with a monkey toy when she arrived here, and she loves carrying it around the house. Everyone was glad to see this new monkey toy, because Cupcake had hidden Monkey the day it arrived, and the humans could not find him anywhere. Perfect timing!

Many people who heard it was Cupcake’s birthday immediately asked whether she was getting a cupcake for her birthday. So by popular demand, she did!

Some of the stuff that we put in cupcakes probably isn’t even species-appropriate food for humans. If you look closely at the photo above, Cupcake’s tongue is blue from the icing!

It may have been Cupcake’s birthday, but not everyone else thought cupcake should get that birthday cupcake to herself.

She ate her cupcake lopsided! She didn’t really like the sprinkles. What you can’t see in this photo is that she dropped most of them on the side of the cupcake closest to her body, which is hidden from the camera.

Of course, Cupcake did share her cupcake, or at least a little of the icing, with everyone.

And a good time was had by all cats at Cupcake’s birthday party.

Candy Kittens?

When Cupcake shops in the home decorating store, she doesn’t just look in the pets section. She shops everywhere. That’s how she ended up checking out the fancy foods section full of packaged foods. In it, she found something that caught her eye.

Candy kittens! Of course, we had get some and check them out.

Candy Kittens

Candy kittens are thankfully not made of kittens. Instead, they are candies in the shape of a cat’s head. They are soft and chewy, but firmer than a gummy bear.

Newton heard the bag rattling and thought it sounded like a cat treat, so he had to come take a look. Cats don’t eat fresh raspberry, Newton!

Not one to listen, Newton had to get a good sniff before he agreed that cats indeed do not eat fresh raspberry!

These candies are very British. So much so that one of the flavors is Eaton Mess. I had to Google to find out what Eaton Mess was. It’s a traditional English dessert made of strawberries, broken pieces of meringue, and double whipped cream.

Hey, that dish looks like something a cat might like to taste a little more than they would these candies! The candies are really tasty, though. Not as sweet as a lot of American candy, but fruity. I tried the Eaton Mess flavor, then the fresh raspberry, wild strawberry, and sweet pineapple.

But they aren’t for cats. Even Ashton knew it.

Better luck next time Cupcake goes shopping, Ashton.
