A Tree in the House?

Cupcake: What is THIS?

Newton: You really want to stay out of the way of that, kid. Just get on the cat tree and let the humans do their thing.

Cupcake: But Mr. Newton, they’re putting a thing in the house that looks like a tree. I’ve seen real trees, and this smells wrong.

Cupcake: It also tastes wrong.

Cupcake: And look at these things! The humans are putting things on the tree, but they keep saying “Not that one, it’s breakable.”

Ashton: Do you think we will get blamed when she knocks it over?

Pierre: Not if we’re sitting over here, we won’t.

Cupcake: This is going to be so much fun!

This is Cupcake’s first holiday season, and her first tree. We have a tradition of a tree going up just after Thanksgiving and being put away the day after Christmas, so with the early Thanksgiving holiday this year, she has a little extra time for kitten mayhem. As with most everything else in the house, the other cats really are giving her a little extra room so when she gets into trouble, there won’t be any doubt whose fault it is.

We will keep you posted whether she manages to topple the tree before the holiday.

Talking Turkey

Newton: Why do you have a turkey, Pierre?

Pierre: Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. We always have turkey for Thanksgiving.

Newton: But it’s not usually like this turkey. This turkey doesn’t smell right.

Pierre: Did it go bad already?

Pierre: Now you did did it! You broke the Thanksgiving turkey.

Cupcake: I don’t understand, Mr. Newton. What are we supposed to do with this thing?

Pierre: Eat it, kid.

Cupcake: I don’t think so.

Newton: Don’t worry. On Thanksgiving, there’s also whipped cream. We can eat that while Pierre eats his turkey.

Cupcake: I love whipped cream!

Newton: Me too, kid. Me too.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our friends who are celebrating it tomorrow. We are thankful for every one of you!

The Coolest Cat in the World

Cupcake is still in the business of making friends. At the coffee shop this weekend, she met a friendly dog.

She decided she wanted a better look at the dog, so she stepped off of the table and put her paws on the rail so she could get a little closer. She fluffed herself up a little big, just to let the dog know who was in charge. The dog’s human even got a chance to pet cupcake while the dog politely waited nearby.

Cupcake is very brave!

All of that bravery is exhausting, though. Cupcake also discovered she could fit into the backpack I bring along on her outings, and she curled up for a little nap inside.

Cupcake: How can I sleep if you keep disturbing me to take pictures?

After visiting the coffee shop, we went to the pet store. When Cupcake arrives, the employees at the store all say “Cupcake!” Everyone knows her name there.

The manager walked over to visit with her, and when the manager got a call over the radio from another employee, she told whoever had called her, “I’m here petting Cupcake, the coolest cat in the world. You should come out and meet her.” And they did!

While we were there, she got to hang out and watch her bird friends.
