Newton’s Snoozy Sunday

Newton: Yesterday was a long day. First, somecat who may or may not be me learned to turn on the weather radio at 5:00 in the morning. It woke everyone up early, but it didn’t get our breakfast any earlier. Then we had terrible storms. I don’t like thunder, and that interrupted my afternoon naps.

So today, I’m going to make up for lost time with some serious napping.

There’s plenty of room on the bed if you want to nap with me. But no loud noises. I have to do lots of catching up on my beauty rest!

Caturday Art

Our friend, Athena, has been running a Caturday Art blog hop for a while now, but we haven’t been organized enough to participate until today, when we let Pierre be the subject of a a sketch.

We created this image by running one of our favorite photos of Pierre through a filter at Photofunia.

Have a great Caturday!

Respect Your Cat Day

Today is Respect your Cat Day, celebrated on this day every year because on March 28, 1384, Richard II of England issued an edict forbidding the consumption of cats.

Just to be clear, around here, every day is Respect Your Cat Day. It should be at your house, too. But in case it isn’t, start with today and work from there. You have to start somewhere.

Need some ideas about ways to celebrate? How about a really cozy bed all of your own, maybe even getting breakfast served there?

Ashton in the cat bed_sm

This is an example of how not to respect your cat. No touching the tail!

no touching newton's tail!

Instead, we prefer treats as a form of respect. Lots of treats. Large treats.

Hopefully, this gives you some ideas about ways you can properly respect your cat on this important holiday!

Cable Calamity

Living in Florida, everything outdoors takes a lot of abuse from the sun and the elements. At our house, that includes the unprotected cable connection on the exposed south side of the house. When it corrodes, our internet connection dies. We’re in the process of getting this repaired now.

The first step of the repair, after the HBO words, is having a repairman come into the house to tell the head peep that she was right when she told the technician on the phone that it was the connection outside the house. The repairman then says that he has to set up another appointment for a different person to fix that.

Newton helped… with a clear path to the closet behind him, in case he needed an escape route.

Ashton: I had important things to do in the closet, so I wasn’t available to help.

Pierre: I had a prior engagement that didn’t include strangers.

Ashton: Don’t let Pierre fool you. He was in the closet, too.

Pierre: *glare*

Things should be back to normal around here in another day or two, and Safety Thursday posts will resume on schedule next week. Thanks for your patience with us not being able to visit as much as we’d like in the meantime, and with the cable guy, who didn’t really like cats.

Newton: Maybe we should have put *him* in the closet!
