Today is Respect your Cat Day, celebrated on this day every year because on March 28, 1384, Richard II of England issued an edict forbidding the consumption of cats.
Just to be clear, around here, every day is Respect Your Cat Day. It should be at your house, too. But in case it isn’t, start with today and work from there. You have to start somewhere.
Need some ideas about ways to celebrate? How about a really cozy bed all of your own, maybe even getting breakfast served there?
This is an example of how not to respect your cat. No touching the tail!
Instead, we prefer treats as a form of respect. Lots of treats. Large treats.

We totally agree with you, every day is a good day for respecting the kitty ! Another idea for “Respect Your Cat Day” could be : don’t use the vacuum while the cat is sleeping. Purrs
We so agree with those Islands cats. Everyday around here is respect your cat day. We have that Person totally trained. But a special day sounds good to all of us. So hope all of you have a fun day.

Oy! One day a year to forbid eating cats? 🙁 We realize times are very different now, of course. And we’re very glad to be house kitties in 2014 where EVERY day definitely is respect your cat day.
All we can say is thank goodness for Richard II – phew that could have been nasty!

We agree that every day is respect your cat day. Mom Paula bought us a special cat bed and we won’t use it. We prefer her bed!

Respect your Cat Day should be everyday but I don’t think TW gives me the respect I deserve! She works for me but after an 18-hour day, I can hear her cursing me unde her breath.

We didn’t know today was respect your cat day. The humans do give us treats, but maybe we should let them know that we should get extra treats today. Ashton, Newton, and Pierre all look great today. Hehe, that’s is one BIG treat that Ashton is going to enjoy.
