St. Catrick’s Day Cupcake

We told you last year about the St. Catrick’s Day traditional licking of the icing. It’s time to celebrate again!

Ashton: Whoa, you’re starting without me?

Newton: Well you didn’t expect us to wait, did you? If we wanted for you, we would never get a turn.

Ashton: You would so! Maybe.

Ashton: But now it’s my turn!

Ashton: Hey, it dumped over.

Newton: And your teeth wouldn’t have anything to do with that?

Pierre: Use your tongue for the icing, not your teeth, Ash. We’ve been over this before.

Newton: Your tongue, like this. * SLURP *

Ashton: Easy with the cooties there, Newt!

Newton: You’re hardly one to tell anycat to go easy. That isn’t exactly a dainty, ladycatlike bite you’re taking.

Ashton: Who said anything about being ladylike? I have to get my share while I can.

Ashton: If I can just get it out of this paper stuff… there it goes.

Ashton: Now I can really get my teeth into it!

Ashton: Where’d it all go? Isn’t there any more?

Ashton: If you’ll excuse me, I need a nap now.

Ashton eats a grain-free, low-calorie diet, and this is an unusual treat because of the holiday. She was supposed to share it with Newton and Pierre, not eat the whole cupcake herself. We do not recommend feeding your cat cupcakes.

The Acro-Cats are Amazing

The Acro-Cats wrapped up ten days of performances in Orlando this weekend with some amazing acrobatic feats. Some of their skills look like something from a circus, like walking a tightrope.

Or jumping long distances through hoops.

Or pushing a glitter ball.

It seemed like they were always in motion. Well, almost always. Little Jax spent a lot of time sitting in front of her oversized cutout, except for when she wandered out into the delighted audience.

The cats are trained by Samantha Martin, who has trained many animals professionally and now travels on a bus with the Acro-Cats to bring them to audiences around the country.

Onstage, they run, leap, climb, and manipulate things with their paws.

Have you ever wanted your cat to be able to do tricks like climbing a perch when you ask?

Part of the show is Samantha talking about her clicker training and target pole methods, where she assures you that you can teach your cat the same thing.

The thought of Ashton learning to ring a bell every time she wants more chicken is kind of scary, so we probably won’t be teaching this trick this at our house.

Some of the cats have musical talents, too, and they play in the Rock Cats band.

There were a lot of percussion instruments in the Rock Cats band.

The famous Tuna even plays more cowbell!

Not everyone in the Acro-Cats show was a cat. In addition Samantha and her two human helpers, there was also a groundhog.

There was also a chicken who could bowl. (Don’t tell Ashton.)

All of the cats performing in the Acro-Cats are rescues, and the traveling troupe picks up abandoned kittens needing fosters, raises them, trains them, and eventually adopts them out to forever homes. They currently have a bottle baby traveling with them who joined the group at their previous stop in New Orleans.

Recall: Primal Pet Foods Voluntarily Recalls a Single Lot of Raw Frozen Cat Food

Primal Pet Foods is voluntarily recalling a single batch production code of Feline Turkey Raw Frozen Formula 3-pound bag. FDA tested product in response to a single consumer complaint. Primal Pet Foods was alerted by FDA that the testing of two bags of this lot resulted in a low thiamine level. Neither FDA nor Primal have received any other reports concerning Thiamine in Primal products. No other product manufactured by Primal Pet Foods is involved in this voluntary recall.

Only the product with the following Best By date and production code is included in the voluntary recall. It is best to check the production code on the back of the bag to determine if the product has been recalled or not.

The lot involved in this voluntary recall is Primal Pet Foods Feline Turkey Raw Frozen Formula 3-pound bag (UPC# 8 50334-00414 0) with Best By date 060815 B22

Ashton: When do I get my turn on the catnip quilt? You know, it has been in the house since before last summer, and I don’t think I’ve gotten a turn on it since it got here.

Pierre: And you’re not going to get a turn today, either. * pbbbbbbbt *

Ashton: Well * pbbbbbbbt * to you, too. Mister territorial about the quilt. It’s not YOURS, you know.

Ashton: I’m going to lay on that quilt tomorrow when he’s not looking, and I won’t move until dinnertime! Maybe I’ll even get dinner served there. That will teach him.
