Kozy Sunday

It isn’t as cold here as it is in some parts of the country, but we aren’t big fans of winter. So we were pretty glad to discover that the box containing the Nightmare Cocoon from Glamour Puss Kitty Couture/Artwich Studios for Cousins Shep and Earl also had a little something in it for us. It’s a kozy kitty cat sack.

Pierre: I’m supposed to be able to burrow into this thing?

I don’t see how. But that’s okay, because it’s mine. Mine mine minemineMINE.

It’s made of super-soft sherpa material that is the nicest thing ever to lay on. It’s going to stay soft fluffy even after it gets washed and dried so I can love it a long, long time.

When it’s on the ottoman, it’s an extra-soft place to nap.

When I have to go answer the call of nature, don’t even think about taking my spot. I left the Christmas mouse in my place to reserve it for me.

Pierre loves his kozy kitty cat sack so much that when it fell off of the ottoman during the night, he slept on top of his new gift on the drafty floor instead of finding a warmer spot!

The Nightmare After Christmas

Sometimes, gifts are late because they just seem too perfect to pass up even though you can’t get them there on time. That’s what happened with our Christmas gift to Cousins Shep and Earl.

We were reading the Wordless Wednesday blog hop on December 4 and ran across a post about a gift that the cats at Curlz and Swirlz had gotten called kitty cocoons. We had never heard of such a thing, but it looked really interesting. We sent the head peep off onto Facebook to look at photos and information about them, and before you know it, she was talking to Rene Laigo at Artwich Studio, ordering a very special one for cousins Earl and Shep. (They aren’t listed in her Etsy store, but you can see lots of photos of the different kinds of cocoons and the various fabric options on Facebook. We really like the owl patterned cocoon and are going to start saving the loose change under the sofa cushions for it.)

The custom-made order arrived in a rainstorm on Thursday, and we were worried when the cardboard box it was in was so wet and soggy that we wouldn’t have used it sharpen our claws.

But there was no need to worry. The cocoon was packed in a plastic bag, so it was dry and beautiful.

Newton: Did you say this has something to do with a movie?

Pierre: Movie out of the way so I can get inside. This is cozy!

Hey, that’s not yours, Pierre! Come out!

Taking a closer look, we would see that the cocoon itself is made really well, and it feels warm but not thick, so we suspect it would be safe in our washing machine. The seams are all sturdy and look like they will stand up to some abuse, which is good, considering the two rowdy brothers who we bought it for.

We sent the belated Christmas gift home with Aunt Orvis and asked her to let us know what the cousins thought of it. She sent some photos of the first time the cousins saw the cocoon.

Shep took a look inside.

And so did Earl.

Shep thought that the cocoon was even more interesting with Earl inside.

Shep: Do you think I would fit in there, too?

Earl: *Unnnngh* Stop shoving!

The cocoon was a big hit, and we’re grateful to Rene for helping us totally surprise our cousins with this great gift that is going to see a lot of use… and a lot of roughhousing, if we know these cousins.

We had a special gift arrive from very far away just after Christmas, and we have been so busy that we haven’t had a chance to tell you about it.

Pierre: Check out the stamps. This came from really far away!

The package came from our friends at The Furries of Whisppy, on practically the other side of the globe from us.

Pierre: The card says, “This awesome stuff is all for Pierre.”

Oh my COD, it’s, silvervine. I’ve never had this before, but it’s amazing!

Pierre just couldn’t help himself, as you can see in the video below.

Ashton: The head peep put some of the silvervine on the outside of this envelope, and I’m here to tell you that it does NOT all belong to Pierre.

Newton: *slurp* *slurrrrrrrp* What are you staring at? You’ve never seen a grown cat lick silvervine before?

We loved getting a card from our friends so far away, and we really, really loved the silvervine. Thank you!

Redecorating for the New Year

Pierre: What’s that up there?

Newton: It’s our new logo. It shows me jumping down gracefully from the words of our blog name.

Pierre: You haven’t jumped gracefully a day in your life. Besides, the tail isn’t poofy enough to be you. It must show an image of me. I’m oldest, after all, and I should be the official image of the blog.

Newton: But I’m more energetic! I jump up on and down from things!

Pierre: And you’re more likely to knock things over. Maybe it does show you after all.
