Pierre’s Hiding Place

Newton: What are you doing under there, Pierre?

Pierre: You aren’t supposed to be able to see me.

Pierre: If you don’t want me to be able to see you, maybe you shouldn’t hang out like that.

Pierre: It’s not polite to look at my rear end.

Newton: But that’s the only part hanging out.

Newton: Don’t hang it out if you don’t want it looked at.

Pierre: If you’re still there looking when I count to three, Newt, I’m going to come out and show you something worth looking at. 1… 2…

Newton: Okay, okay. I’m going. But I still think you should cover that end up. It will get cold tonight.

Preparing for Secret Paws

Newton: Have you seen Pierre? I wrapped all of these gifts for our Secret Paw friend, and he is supposed to be finding a box to ship them in so they arrive in time for the holiday.

Secret Paw is like the Secret Santa gift exchange that humans do, but it happens among cats who have blogs.

Pierre: Newton where are you? I found a box!

Newton: This doesn’t look like it’s going to fit in this box. Can you find another one?

Pierre: I sat in the other boxes, and I kind of like them. I don’t want to send them away.

Newton’s Caturday Adventure

Cupcake: Where are you going, Mr. Newton?

Newton: Hey, watch the paw! I’m going to my checkup.

Cupcake: Does that mean we can’t play right now?

Newton: Does this look like I can play right now? OW with the paw, kid!

Newton’s Vet Visit

Cupcake didn’t get to accompany Newton to the vet. After all, he likes getting all the attention himself. The vet’s welcome board had his name listed first because he’s the most important cat they’ll see all day. (Also because he had the first appointment of the day, but don’t tell him that.)

His girlfriend Josie was there to greet him, too. Another good reason not to bring Cupcake along, since you can’t be sweet to your girlfriend with a kitten watching.

There was a sign in the exam room letting Newton know what a VIP he was.

"Welcome Newton" sign

Newton loves to visit the back area at the vet’s office. Every time he hears footsteps approach the door that leads to the back area, he waits anxiously for someone to open the door so he can run back there and look for Josie. This visit, he made it through once, but he got caught before he could make it too far down the hallway.

Newton: What? I wasn’t trying to see who was in the kennels today. Really.

Newton is a senior kitty. That doesn’t mean he is old, but it does mean he visits the vet for exams twice a year. It isn’t his favorite thing to do, but he’s very good through the whole process. He had blood and a urine sample drawn, and he even had his blood pressure taken.

All of the signs in his exam were that he’s a healthy boy.

Newton: I could have told you that. Can we go home now? I’ll even play with the kid.

A Tree in the House?

Cupcake: What is THIS?

Newton: You really want to stay out of the way of that, kid. Just get on the cat tree and let the humans do their thing.

Cupcake: But Mr. Newton, they’re putting a thing in the house that looks like a tree. I’ve seen real trees, and this smells wrong.

Cupcake: It also tastes wrong.

Cupcake: And look at these things! The humans are putting things on the tree, but they keep saying “Not that one, it’s breakable.”

Ashton: Do you think we will get blamed when she knocks it over?

Pierre: Not if we’re sitting over here, we won’t.

Cupcake: This is going to be so much fun!

This is Cupcake’s first holiday season, and her first tree. We have a tradition of a tree going up just after Thanksgiving and being put away the day after Christmas, so with the early Thanksgiving holiday this year, she has a little extra time for kitten mayhem. As with most everything else in the house, the other cats really are giving her a little extra room so when she gets into trouble, there won’t be any doubt whose fault it is.

We will keep you posted whether she manages to topple the tree before the holiday.
