I Love My Calendar Cat

The Cat Blogosphere calendars are starting to arrive for the first batch of orders. Pierre is pretty obviously excited to be one of the cats featured on the page-a-day calendar that also features so many of our friends.

Pierre and CB 2014 Calendar

Finding a printer who would print these was really hard, so big props to Mom Paula from Sweet Purrfections for organizing this for us and getting them out. We love the calendar!

In case you’re wondering, it’s not to late to order your own calendar.

Meow Like a Pirate Day

It’s Meow Like a Pirate Day, and we’re celebrating!

Meow Like A Pirate Day 9.19.2013

For our celebration today, we’re looking back at the summer of 2011 when we had an actual pirate ship. Dread Pirate Pierre was napping at the wheel, but he didn’t need to worry about preparing to be boarded, because First Mate Newton was keeping a watchful… oh…

Dread Pirate Pierre

It looks like First Mate Newton is sleeping off some especially good pirate grog. We’ll just hope we have fair winds until our pirate crew is ready to sail away on our next adventure!

Not So Wordless Wednesday: Outtakes

Taking photos for yesterday’s blog post was interesting because someone kept sneaking behind the photographer and trying to get into the goodies from The Natural Pet Company that weren’t in use…

IMG_1258

It must have been that intoxicating catnip smell. Not to mention the plastic bag itself! Pierre is actually as much of a fan of plastic bags as is he is of toys, so you have to be careful… or listen for the telltale plastic crunching noises.

Pierre: There’s no cat around here trying to steal anything. Go back to taking your pictures.

He even made off with the top torn off of the catnip bag. It was madness behind the scenes!

Special Notice!

Since you’re reading this on the internet, you have heard by now about the devastation from the floods in Colorado. As of Monday, flood conditions are spread across 200 miles, covering 15 counties. 9 people have lost their lives. First responders have rescued 2200 people and over 500 pets, and over 11,700 people are evacuated, with hundreds of people and pets staying in using 26 shelters.

Many shelters aren’t pet friendly, and local humane societies are opening their doors to take in displaced animals during this unprecedented emergency. If you have been wondering how you can help, the following shelters are doing work to house or provide supplies for displaced pets:

  • The Longmont Humane Society started an online fundraiser specifically for the displaced pets. You can make a donation here.
  • The Humane Society of Boulder Valley has been taking in pets and is taking donations here.
  • The Larimer Humane Society is accepting pets and housing some lost pets from the heavy flooding that hit Loveland, CO. You can make a donation to them here.

Toy Review Tuesday: The Natural Pet Company Toys

The The Natural Pet Company asked if we would like to review their cat toys and catnip, and since we are experts on both toys and catnip, we said we would love to try them out.

Newton and Pierre: What’s this?

NatPet01_NewtPierre

Pierre: It smells like catnip… maximum strength.

NatPet02_Pierre

Pierre: Yessssss!

NatPet03_Pierre

Newton: It smells good. But how do open it? I don’t have thumbs.

NatPet04_Newt

Newton: Ooooh… new toys? For me?

NatPet06_Newt

Photographer: Wait, wait, I want a photo of —

Newton: ARGH! No waiting! This is awesome!

NatPet07_Newt

Newton: It has a string, and I’m going to undo it since you’re so slow!

NatPet08_Newt

Strangely, the string wasn’t threaded through the end of the stick.

Newton: It wasn’t my fault!

It was easy to thread through and tie into a simple knot, whether it was Newton’s fault or not.

NatPet09_Newt

Newton: Mine!

NatPet10_Newt

Pierre: This has feathers! I’m giving it the bitey!

NatPet11_Pierre

Newton: The toy package also contained this thing that had ribbons on it. Ribbons! And a bell! OMC!

NatPet12_Newt

Pierre: And there was a mouse made all out of stuff that feels like the sisal on my cat tree. This thing rules!

NatPet13_Pierre

Newton: I’m not sharing!

NatPet14_Newt

Newton: Wait, what are you doing to the toy with the ribbon. Ooh, that smells good…

NatPet15_Newt

Newton: I thought this toy was good before. Now it’s just dreamy.

NatPet16_Newt

Pierre: I admit it. I inhale catnip. A lot.

NatPet17_Pierre

Ashton: This was so tempting even I came out of scaredy-cat hiding to play with it!

NatPet18_Ash

Newton: If there’s catnip in the air, there it must be time for a smackdown!

NatPet19_PierreandNewtSmackdown

The toys and catnip from The Natural Pet Company were a real success, and as you can see, everybody enjoyed them. The toys were a lot more durable than they looked at first glance, which we appreciate, since we are kind of rough with toys. Thanks to the Natural Pet Company for the opportunity to give them a test drive. We’ll be getting a lot more fun play time out of these toys and catnip!
