Ashton: Any day you have to go to the vet is a bad day. But I had to admit, I make things a little challenging with how difficult I am to get into the PTU.
It all started when the doors got closed all over the house. We have an open door policy around here, and closed doors mean trouble for someone.
Newton: Everybody else hid, and I investigated. I always forget that this door *can* close.
Ashton: This isn’t your story, Newton.
Newton: It is when I was there. At least until I was locked out on the wrong side of the sliding glass door.
Ashton: So the head peep looked for me under the sofa, and look who she found!
Pierre: Leave me out of this. I was just inspecting the poor housekeeping on the floor under here.
Ashton: Unfortunately, she found me under there too. What, you don’t store your turbo track under the sofa?
Newton: I was sitting on the peep’s desk, watching out the window.
Ashton: Still not your story, Newton.
Ashton: Then there was a dirty trick… the sofa got pulled away from the wall! I made a break for it, but ended up caught and put into the PTU.
Ashton: I wasn’t happy about it, either.

Ashton: We had to wait a while in the waiting room at the vet. At first, I was okay.
But the stress of pretending to be okay got to me.
I closed my eyes and thought of Mr. Jinx.
We went into the exam room, and… oh, don’t publish that picture on the internet!
Dr. K said I have a staff infection. I don’t know what that is, but I have to take medicine for it.
I was so tired from all of the stress, I was quieter than normal on the ride back home.
Head Peep: The vet offered to give Ashton a Convenia injection for her staph infection rather than her needing daily medication, but we checked her chart and she hasn’t had it in the past. With the poor reactions we’ve seen in some of our friends around the blogosphere to Convenia, we decided it was best if she had and antibiotic she has safely taken in the past, so she is on Baytril for 14 days.
Thanks to all of you (and especially Mr. Jinx!) for your good thoughts while Ashton had her bad day at the vet. We’re relieved that it wasn’t anything more serious, and we hope that Ashton will be on speaking terms with the peeps again soon.
