Wand Toy 201: Advanced Techniques

Pierre: Welcome to Wand Toy 201! Today, we’re going to learn some advanced techniques for playing with the wand toy. If you didn’t already take Wand Toy 101, you should try that first so that you’re ready for these.

We’ll start with a little review: Always keep your eye on the wand toy. You don’t want it to smack you in the face. That’s a rookie move.

Pierre watches wand toyIf the wand toy is too far away, move to a better position. Make sure you move low to the ground so that smacking in the face thing doesn’t happen to you. Not that it has ever happened to me or anything, but it’s best to be safe.

Pierre stalksOnce you’re in position, you’ll be ready to watch the wand toy wave within reach. It’s hard to do, but if you wait a little bit to pounce, it will probably wave closer, so choose your moment.

Pierre watches birbugThen make a grab for it! If you aren’t doing the position from Wand Toy 101 where you are on your back, you may have to grab with one paw. This is all right, but the wand toy can slip away more easily from one paw. You may have to use your claws, too.

Pierre grabs wand toyBring it in for the kill. If you need to say some words last to the wand toy, this is the best time. Keep your claws curled around the wand toy so it doesn’t escape.

Pierre grabs wand toyBite hard. If your wand toy keeps putting up a fight, try keeping the string between your toes to help control it.

Pierre bites wand toyAlternatively, you can hook your claw around the string and hold it down that way. The whole purpose is to subdue the wand toy so you can enjoy biting it without interruption.

Pierre chews wand toyThat’s wand toy 201. Now it’s your turn to get out there and practice, kitties. Any questions?

Wow, that was an awesome tutorial! But what about the part where you leap in the air after it? Is that 301? I’m still working on it!
