The Toy Cold Shoulder

You know you’ve done it. The peeps find you a toy that they are sure you’ll love. It’s going to be the greatest thing ever. Then… not so much.

Pierre: What’s this? It has feathers, so maybe it will be fun. Pierre examining the toy 01

I will pose nicely several feet from the toy. Is that good enough?

Pierre ignoring the toy

Newton and Pierre: Watch us both ignore the toy at the same time. Teamwork!

Newton and Pierre Ignore the Toy 01

Newton: It has feathers, but I’m not looking.

Newton ignoring the toy

Okay, maybe I’m looking. A little bit.

Newton examining the toy 01

Ashton: Hey, what do you have?

Newton examining the toy 02b

Ashton: *sniff, sniff*

Ashton Examining The Toy

Nope.

Ashton gives the toy the cold shoulder

The peeps are mystified about how anything with feathers could get three strikes from us. We think it’s important to always keep them guessing. Don’t you?

MEWHAHAHA! That’s right, mew guys are smart. It’s best not to give in too easy or humans start to think they know us so well, which can lead to them believing they are in charge. We can’t have that kind of lunacy!

This would be most of the toys our human has purchased for us over the years. ๐Ÿ˜€

Yup, you just never know what the cats are going to like and usually it is something that isn’t supposed to be a toy. WE do like the feather toys though. Take care and have a great day.

Miss Ashton just the mere presence of you has set Mr Jinx heart aflutterin! You made his day! The kitties in our house are nearly toy resistant until it’s filled with catnip!

I agree, never show too much interest, especially when they are watching!

MOL! We do that all the time! And then, just when the mom decides maybe she should put the toy away, or give it away, we start playing with it like crazy! Always keep the humans guessing…that’s our motto!

This is interesting feedback. We have a similar toy but none of our cats liked it either. You’d think feather and movement would attract. Let me know if anything changes.

I wouldn’t be interested either. I don’t like any toys that have a plastic base like that. Mum once bought me a ferret with a round plastic ball that rolls around and I wouldn’t go near it. She took the ferret off and threw the ball away and now it is one of my favourite toys.
