When we attempted a photo shoot for our holiday cards, it didn’t all go quite as planned.
Newton: Did someone call for a spokescat for a photo shoot?
Snowflake? I’m a Florida cat and haven’t ever seen a snowflake before, and I sure don’t see one around here now.
Nope, no snowflakes under here, either.
You were talking about THIS? It looks more like a cat toy to me.
Yeah, I’ve got this. Why are you saying “I give up”? I just got to the good part!
This is an encore of a post that previously ran just before the Thansgiving holiday last year.
The big Thanksgiving holiday. It’s a time many of us spend with family and friends, and one of the centerpieces of the holiday for most families is the big Thanksgiving dinner.
Your cat may have varying opinions about this.
Ashton: When do they serve the turkey?
Newton: Forget turkey. I want to dive into the whipped cream!
Pierre: Does this mean visitors for dinner? Tell me when they’re gone.
Cats like Pierre are mostly immune to Thanksgiving dinner hazards, but cats like Newton and Ashton will put on their holiday best to be able to share in your Thanksgiving feast. Is it safe to share with them?
A little taste of boneless, well-cooked turkey is safe for your cat, but hold the stuffing! Stuffing usually contains onions, which aren’t safe for cats. Sweet potatoes are safe, but don’t share them if you don’t know what they were prepared with, the essential oils in some herbs and spices can cause gastrointestinal upset. Similarly, pumpkin, which vets recommend for feline constipation, isn’t the same thing as a pumpkin pie full of spices. Consider holding a little pumpkin aside when making your pie if you want to share with your kitty.
The most important thing is moderation. A little taste of your mashed potatoes is all right, but your cat doesn’t need a meal of them. Kitties may love the novelty of interesting food smells at the holidays, but share sparingly and keep up their regular diet to avoid upset stomachs.

Newton: Hey, Pierre, whatcha doing?
Pierre: Trying to find a place to work on my 18 hours of daily beauty rest.
Newton: Do you want to chase a sparkle ball with me?
Pierre: No, thanks. And don’t smooch me. That’s embarrassing.
Newton: Why are you going in there?
Pierre: Because my KatKabin is my castle.
Newton: What do cats do in their castles?
Pierre: Sleep, of course. And dream of dinnertime.
Newton: But I don’t want to sleep.
Pierre: * sigh * You could claw on the carpeted outside of the KatKabin and leave me to nap. It’s meant for scratching. I asked for the indoor version, but there’s a KatKabin for outdoors that doesn’t have carpet on the outside.
Newton: Outdoor cats have castles, too?

Pierre: Look, this isn’t working for me with the whole orange audience thing. Can you put down that camera for a few minutes and move my KatKabin into the living room so I can hang out in there while you have your computer on your lap in front of the TV instead of leaving lap room for me?
