Sunday in the Garden

Newton: We know that the blogosphere likes Thursday in the Garden, but the head peep worked in the garden yesterday, and I helped. Well, I provided supervision from the safety of behind the screened door.

The garden needed it, too. Good help is so hard to find.

I settled in to my supervisory duties.

The head peep doesn’t like gardening, and some of the things I heard her say made my ears burn. I heard her say something about paving over the garden when she was digging up the big mess of weed-infested shrubs.

And look what she found when she pulled the shrubs out!

Gardening_Snake01

Are you going to bring that over here to me? It looks like fun!

Newton_looking_out_screen_door02_sm

She didn’t. Good help really is hard to find.

She kept on working on the garden. After a while, she started talking about filling it up with rocks and artificial plants instead of dirt.

Then she found another snake.

Ashton: That looks like a string!

Pierre: You’re going to bring that to us, right?

Newton: Hey, whose story is this?

Newton_on_ottoman_watching_gardening

Pierre: Newton doesn’t know how to share toys, either.

Newton: *sighs* Finally, after two snakes that never came inside to play and several HBO words, the garden was done.

Garden_after

Newton: I’m going to have to use my lazy Sunday to catch up on my sleep after staying awake to supervise so much. But first I need to check to be sure she didn’t bring in a snake after all.

Oh, SNAKES ARE FUN! Especially the rattly ones that make Mommy scream and run for the broom and a cardboard box. We guess yours weren’t THAT kind…

    Hey, we like your Moai!

We don’t see so much snakes here ; Mum doesn’t really care, but Dad would have run away before you can say “snake” ! Mum is waiting for April for the garden ; she knows that even if we have some warm springs days now, the ground is still too wet and too cold, and freezing morning cold can last until May. Enjoy your beautiful garden ! Purrs

What good snoopervisors you are. The mom would have quit working in that garden after she found the first snake. She’s a wuss. 🙂

Your garden is beautiful! Newton, I’m sure it’s due to your supervising.

The lady thinks your mom is super brave. She’d never go out again if she saw those snakes!

Mom doesn’t like it when she finds snakes. Our woofie runs after them when he goes outside.

We get those snakes, too. Just little ones. They don’t interest me much but my sister, Constance, likes to go snakin’ all the time. Then the peep has to rescue the snakes. MOUSES!

Eeewww. What did she do with the snakes? Mommy’s so glad she’s never found a snake when she’s gardening.
Your head peep must be exhausted after all that work!

Wow, the Mom did a great job with the garden. It looks terrific. Guess the snakes will move back in there. We are not crazy about snakes. Have a great afternoon.

Ok one snake would have been good enough for Momma to stop! We like what you did in your garden and it will be very pretty when it all blooms out! Our Mom has to put out two pallets of mulch — we have a 1 1/2 acres of landscaping…what was Mom thinking when she bought that much land?

Your garden is looking pretty. I like snakes. I take any I find back to my mum. I think she likes my presents because she shouts with joy when I drop them at her feet.

Don’t let her pave that over the snakes. TW misses her garden. She used to enjoy digging in it until the worms started getting unearthed. She’s lucky she had a BF who loved to garden although he didn’t love to weed.

We love snakes here too! Even the mom who says they eats things she doesn’t like – like mousies. Of course, we would like to eat those mousies too. Our mom used to like gardening but now she just grumbles about it. We wondered what happened. Not enough snakes, maybe.
