As we mentioned yesterday, there were ominous signs that something was going on. Carriers had been on the floor for a few days. Then, our peaceful Caturday morning was interrupted by a snatch and grab!
Ashton: Not funny, peeps.

With our carriers seat belted securely, we were off for a Caturday morning drive.
There wasn’t a disembodied hand stuck in the carrier with Ashton. The door on top of the carrier allows the head peep to reach in to her on the ride. Ashton gets very stressed during drives, working herself up to panting excessively, so the head peep tries to reassure her.
All three of sang the song of our people the whole way. We’ve included a sample of it below, in case you want to sing along.
Pierre: Seriously? Is this necessary?
At the vet’s office, Ashton is a bit of celebrity because of her rescue story and their role in it. The head receptionist saw her and immediately started calling people out of the back to come see how big she has gotten since her rescue and early surgeries.
Once we were in a room, all Newton wanted was to get out of the carrier.
Newton: I’ll be good. I promise.
So the peeps let him out while they waited for the vet.
Newton: Is there anything edible up there? Because I could use breakfast. You have no idea how these people feed me.
Needless to say, Newton got his exam first. He might not be so eager to get out of the carrier next time.
Then it was Pierre’s turn.
Pierre: Guys, I’m healthy. Really, this isn’t necessary.
While the Dr K. was getting a fecal sample (how undignified!), he got distracted reading the head peep’s t-shirt. The vet tech pointed out that he could read it afterward. Pierre agreed completely.
Pierre: Are you finished? Because I am.
Ashton tried to throw off the scale by putting a paw down on the table.
It didn’t work. Everyone agreed that she would benefit from dropping a little weight. We’ll be working on that soon.
Her dirty ears turned out to be a yeast infection. Dr. K described putting ear drops in daily for a week. After the head peep’s laughter died down, everybody agreed that Ashton would come back in another week for another ear flush. It isn’t ideal, but Ashton barely tolerates basic handling at home, and we don’t want to traumatize her into becoming untouchable.
Ashton also got her nails clipped. You can see how the staff at the vet absolutely adores Ashton, even if she doesn’t exactly return the sentiment.
Ashton: Can we go home? I need to hide in the closet. Now.
With the exception of Ashton’s ears, everybody is healthy. Hopefully, Ashton will come out of the closet before she needs to go back to visit her admirers at the vet again. But for now, she’s going to spend her easy Sunday in her favorite spot in the closet, where there aren’t any scary strangers.
Whisppy says

The mom says big kudos to the head peep for taking 3 of you at once! She’ll take me and Wally at the same time, and it’s such a challenge!

Well, overall it wasn’t a bad outcome, except for the ear thing and we hope it gets all cleared up soon.

Glad the visit went well considering the ear issue. Good job, guys! Loved the song of our people sung by the Catsherdyou Trio!
Flynn says
What a scary day! I am glad everyone checked out well apart from Ashton’s ears. I have to be dragged out of the PTU when I go to the vet.
Marg says
That is great news that everyone is OK except for Ashtons ears. But that should go away without much trouble. Loved hearing all of you sing. My cats all perked up to see who was here. Take care.

Caren Gittleman says
glad that over all everyone is doing fine!! One suggestion, leave the carriers out ALL the time. I do. It makes it less stressful when they do have to go to the Vet!
Mark's Mews says
Beins try to be so sneaky with those PTUs! TBT tries something different evry time. It never werks. He allus has to fight each one of us into them.
Swami Zoe says
I sing the song of our people with you too! Me-Ommmmmmmmm
Cathy Keisha says
Hopefully you guys are set for another year or so. Poor Ashton. She’s the one who hates to travel the most. I enjoyed your symphony.
Derby and Ducky says
Mum would NEVER think of taking us to the stabby place together.
Oui Oui says
How upsetting! We went through the same thing last month and its a purrfectly good way to ruin a nice morning. Poor Oui Oui’s heart went out to everyone when she heard the trauma in the voices of the kitty chorus, but Julie didn’t even wake up.
Ms. Phoebe says
Awww all of mew were very brave! I HATE going to the stabby place and have to be tricked by someone picking me up while the other runs and gets my carrier, for if I see it beforehand I will run like the wind and hide in a place not easy for my human to reach me. I am working on a covert plan to outwit them on their current conniving operation of trickery!
Ashton, mewz idea to throw off the scale is pawesome- mew just need a way to distract the humans from noticing. I am going to think of a solution and try it myself- how DARE they say mew are too fat!! My vet has the audacity to say the same about me, we are NOT fat, we are FLOOFY ladycats!
I’m happy mew are all well except for the trauma mewz humans put mew through, I would DEMAND at LEAST a WEEK’S worth of treats to recover from what will surely become LIFELONG psychological scars.
Clooney says
Huge purrs to Ashton for her ears to heal quickly with ease! Oh kitties, we are glad to hear you all got good reports. Did you demand some extra Num-Nums for that ordeal?
