We don’t eat kibble around here, but scientific study has shown that cats who do eat kibble can lose weight with feeding enrichment like puzzle feeders. Using some kibble usually reserved for occasional treats for Pierre, Newton tried out a puzzle feeder intended for feeding kibble. As usual, things didn’t go quite as planned.
Newton: I know there has to be a way to get this food out of here…
Newton: Oh, hey… I like this! Easy access!
Pierre: I don’t think that’s how it’s supposed to work.
Newton: It works to give me some treats. You’re just jealous. I’m going to take what’s left of my puzzle feeder and my kibble under the bed where you can’t stare at me eating. Didn’t anyone tell you it’s rude to stare?
Newton: Oops! Lost my grip.
Newton: But check this out…. it’s like a smorgasbord all laid out for me.
Pierre: Are you going to share that smorgasbord?
Newton: I don’t see your name on it…
Ashton: Wow, Newon, thanks for getting the kibble out of that puzzle for us!
Newton: ** SIGH **

MOL! The mom heard the same thing about puzzle toys and got us a few to try. It didn’t take us long to figure out the puzzles either. They must have been designed by humans. 🙂

Hah, I tried this out with my kitties as well but found it to be impractical. They leave those toys in the most impractical places, there is no way to know if they’ve eaten that day and the toys they lose have the food sit in them and go stale. Plus, it’s kind of hard to clean them out. So I opted instead for a feeding bowl that requires them to work for their food – that way I can keep an eye on it 😀

Personally, I think all these food toys were developed by D*GS. And you know how gullible humans are, they buy them. BUT, do you really think human would allow *themselves* to have to “play” before getting food?

MOL! Newton is too smart for the puzzle. I got Milita a little puzzle ball and she just stared at it; she was not amused. Jewel had one, too, and she figured it out in two seconds, haha.

Boy, Newton, you sure made short work of that puzzle feeder. We don’t get any kibble in our house but mom might give us a few treats in one of those just for fun.

good job, Newton! here’s hoping you at least got most of the treats. I have a magic treat dispenser like that but it hangs. I can spin it to twist it apart and get the treats out 🙂

Cody has had that blue toy for YEARS…………it really isn’t as good of a treat dispenser as one I featured years ago…….check out my old blog post for Bat-a-Rat…..it is MUCH better made and much better all-around.
Those puzzle things only work on dogs. Cats are too smart.
