Flashback Friday: When Ashton had Two Eyes

We have never shared any kitten photos of Ashton where you can see her with two eyes. A lot of her photos from around that time aren’t pleasant to look at, but we found one from when the swelling to the eye had gone down but our vet wanted her to gain a little more weight for surgery.

Ashton with two eyes (and Pierre, too)

So now you have proof… Ashton did once have two eyes, though we never knew her with two that could actually see. And to tell the truth, she doesn’t miss that eye these days at all.

Cute photo. I guess having a second eye is not nearly as important as having one.

We have often wondered whether Ashton had had an eye infection or if her eye had been hurt in an accident. She seems to have adapted very well and we think she looks very cute with her “wink”

What a itty bitty little girl she was. It’s good to see how much she has grown and how well she has adapted to being a one eyed kitty. πŸ™‚

It is fun to see Ashton with two eyes. But she looks very comfortable with just one eye too. It is amazing how animals can adjust to all kinds of things.
    Have a wonderful day.

Cats live in the ‘now’, which is a wonderful lesson for us humans. Although they like routines, cats just want to have fun and chase that fly or watch the birds or meow for a treat. I want to be a cat in a future life!

That’s why you have two, one is for backup. You look amazing with your perpetual wink, Ashton! – Crepes.

One of our Angels, Ming, lived with Dad from when he was 16 to past 32. She had one eye from an argument with an auto and was a great hunter and protector of the home. We think you are really pretty Ashton. It looks like you are winking.

We remember her story and considering what she went through, she looks great (and very cute)! Although we have great affection for her little wink.

You are a lovely lady Ashton. Before mum was married she had a kitty who lost an eye. He came in from the field one day with it badly damaged and no-one knows what happened, whether he may have got kicked by a cow (unlikely as there were no other injuries) or if ran into brambles or something while he was hunting. He had it removed and it never bothered him at all. He was called Patch and was named before he lost his eye.

I was always amazed how our Founder Cat Dash Kitten had such a spirit of adventure in spite of being partially sighted – so I am not surprised that losing an eye does not stop a kitty from a full and amazing life! Rock on Ashton πŸ™‚
