Best View in the House

Ashton: I’m going to tell you one of my secrets. Come on over here and sit by me. I’ll make room.

Ashton by the window

Ashton: I know that some jungle cats have plants to hide behind to watch for prey. Well, I don’t have any plants because Newton eats any plants that come into the house.

Newton: I heard that!

Ashton: Well, you do eat them! Don’t pay any attention to him. This is what I wanted to show you. Check it out. It’s my own jungle cat view of the outdoors. It’s the best view in the house.

Ashton_view

Ashton: This window looks out between the townhouses, and anything that wants to go from the front yard to the back goes by here. I get to see all kinds of things: big walking birds, deer, humans, even humans with dogs. And I’m not scared of any of them because I can see them, but they can’t see me. So I sit here all day instead of on the sofa, just watching to see what might happen by.

Ashton: Sometimes I even see a frog or a squirrel right on the window screen. When I do, I pounce.

Newton: Is she looking out that window again? Ashton, stop that. You’re bombing my photo!

Ashton: I can’t hear you. I’m behind the blinds.

Newton: *sigh*

Gemini is a big window hog around here. And she hisses if Ichiro even gets close. Although I have to admit that when the birds fly by it is fun to be watching!

We have the same blinds in our house and LOVE that we can watch the outside world – we see birds, people, dogs, cats, trucks, cars, lizards, bugs, snakes (eww), possum, squirrels, and pretty butterflies!

Looks like you’ve got the best spot in the house, Ashton! We love looking out the window at all of the animals that come by too! Most recently we’ve had squirrels, chipmunks, and a RAT!!

Mommy doesn’t know how she missed commenting on this when she read it the first time. She thinks it is pretty cool how you have figured out what is the most advantageous spot for critter watching, and we think it sounds as if you get some pretty cool ones.
