Who Are you Calling Wide?

Ashton: What do you mean, I’m looking a little wide?

one-eyed brown tabby cat in the "loaf" position

I heard a rumor there was about to be a cutback on my treats. Don’t the humans know this is keeping me warm for the winter?

It’s true. The introduction of bedtime snack time was a bad idea, and not just because Ashton starts asking for bedtime at about 7pm. It’s easy to underestimate how many calories cats are getting outside of their regular diet, but Ashton, who eats like every morsel will be the last on earth, is especially susceptible to packing on the pounds. She is going to have to join so many humans are on their after-New-Year’s diets.

Oh, bummer! I just got weighed because I need a health certificate to fly on the airline I’m traveling on to Portland this weekend… and I’m a little underweight! So that means more treats for me! Neener, neener!

If it makes you feel any better, Ashton, my mom becomes the Food Police when we eat because Izzy is the same way. I’m already on a special food regimen, but controlling Izzy is almost impossible. Everybody is in a normal weight range except for him, and he is a real chub!

Good luck on your diet, Ashton! Losing a few ounces might feel really good. Those treats add up really fast!

Oh no! Don’t let the humans read this or they might get some ideas. Everytime Buster jumps down from the bed or a cabinet, like there is an earthquake here.

We think it’s the camera angle, too, Ashton. You look purrfectly fine to us. We say this because we don’t want the mom to get any ideas of cutting out our bedtime snack. 😉

That winter weight creeps on slowly so more portion control with a few treats? Odin who is 15 of muscle suddenly looked wide to me! It’s a shock when our lithe and limber “kittens” fill out.

Sorry, I don’t see it, Ashton. I think misery loves company and the human needs a diet so she’s putting you on one. Exercise is the key, notfood deprivation.

Giulietta, Calista, Mauricio and Lisbeth all need to go on diets. Very hard when they are eating this “calm” food. And we absolutely don’t think you are wide, Ashton. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty may, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo4
