Adorable Adoptables: Ambrosia

Ambrosia is a beautiful five-year-old brown tabby ladycat with awhite bib and the cutest white toes on her front paws. She loves to be petted, and she will jump up onto your lap out of nowhere while you’re on the computer or watching TV. She will even sleep on your chest, on your pillow, or just next to you at night.

Adopted as a kitten, Ambrosia returned to Candy’s Cats because her owners couldn’t afford her vet care. After she was returned, she was diagnosed with stomatitis, and she had two surgeries on her mouth to remove all of her teeth. She feels much better now, and her stomatitis doesn’t flare up any more.

Don’t worry, just because this beautiful kitty doesn’t have teeth doesn’t mean she can’t eat! Ambrosia eats both canned food and kibble. Canned food is better for her, but she really loves having some kibble, too. When she needed medicine after surgery, she even ate her food with medicine in it so that she didn’t have to be restrained to have pills.

Stomatitis is related to allergies, and Ambrosia’s allergy tests showed she had several food and grass allergies. She is currently on allergy shots for a year, and the vet says that after a year of the shots, her allergies should subside.

Born to a feral mother, Ambrosia is shy at first and needs time to learn to trust you and adjust to her new environment. She get along well with other cats and dogs but would prefer to be an only cat in a quiet home because she likes having a litter box all her own.

She’s such a sweet girl, she likes belly rubs, and she also likes to be brushed. Ambrosia has an adorable squeak when she meows for food or attention. Her favorite toys are mice, and she will hunt them and then bat them around the house.

Adorable Adoptable: Bushler

Today’s adorable adoptable is Bushler, a beautiful, four-year-old ginger boy who was originally rescued as a semi-feral kitten from the woods next to a convenience store. He was adopted when young but then returned to Candy’s Cats for being too shy. Just like many cats, he isn’t confident in a new home, and he needs time to adjust to a new environment. Once he is comfortable with you, he’ll follow you around the house and loves to be petted.

As a shy cat, he won’t climb onto your lap by himself, but if you put him there and pet him, he will let you hear his best purr. He is most active in the evenings,when you’re most likely to see him play with a toy mouse or give the scratching post a good workout.

Bushler is a special boy because he has stomatitis and allergies to some grasses and foods. His stomatitis meant that he had to have all of his teeth pulled, and he sometimes gets mouth ulcers from a feline herpes virus infection, but don’t worry, he loves to eat soft food! He takes a supplement for his stomatitis to keep it under control.

He’s a great self-groomer and keeps himself looking good for the ladies. He needs an extra helping hand once a week with a sponge or damp towel bath to prevent his saliva from discoloring his beautiful fur.

Although he is an indoor cat, Bushler loves to lounge in sunbeams, and his favorite spot in his foster home is in the windowsill watching the cat TV or sitting on the stairs where he can see what his happening all over the household.

Adorable Adoptables: Miss Stella

Lovely Miss Stella is a beautiful black kitty with extra toes. Some people call cats like her Hemingway cats after the author Ernest Hemingway and his love for polydactyl (many-toed) cats. Ernest Hemingway would have loved Miss Stella. She is full of energy and affection, and she loves to cuddle at night.

Miss Stella is an extra-special girl because she has no vision in her left eye. The veterinarian believes that she lost vision in her eye due on illness that went untreated when she was a kitten. Other than not having vision, the eye is healthy enough and doesn’t need to be removed.

Having one eye doesn’t slow down Miss Stella at all. She loves her foster brothers and sisters and spends lots of time playing with them. She is the type of cat who gets bored without a companion kitty, so she would love to join a household that already has a cat so that she always has a friend to keep her company.
