Ashton: I don’t know if you heard, but I don’t jump. Not if I can help it. It’s undignified. It is also hard for me to judge distances accurately with only one eye. The head peep finally got some photos of how I don’t jump to reach the platforms on the cat tree, and I said she could share them with you today.
Ashton: To get to the first platform of the cat tree, you climb up the cat tree, like this.
Ashton: Then you reach across.
Ashton: You really have to streeeeetch to reach.
Ashton: Okay, both paws now.
Ashton: Then you pull yourself over.
Ashton: Pull hard, and push with your back feet. Almost there!
Ashton: This is really tiring. Whew. Okay, I have to finish this now.
Ashton: So next you have to put your back paws on the platform.
Ashton: This part is really awkward. Maybe you can look away from this photo while I push myself all the way onto the platform.
Ashton: Whew, I finally made it! Wasn’t that better than jumping up here?
I think climbing may be as much fun as jumping!

Climbing is a MUCH better workout and you have the moves down purrfectly!!

Great job, Ashton! I have a one eyed cat too, but Joey seems to have no problem jumping. However, he does knock things off of tables because the item is out of his field of vision.
You are so amazing, Ashton. I love how animals don’t complain about things they can’t do like humans do, they just find new ways to accomplish their goals! Four paws up, sweetie.

Mom was watching a vet show last night. An older dog with arthritis in his hind end taught himself to walk up the deck stairs backwards so as not to have all his weight on his hind end!

Whoa! That looks tiring. I used to shimmy up my Tree of Pain. I don’t think TW ever got a video of it. It only took a second to shimmy up it.
