Species-Inappropriate Food

Ashton: Cats are obligate carnivores. That means we need to eat meat. This gives the humans this idea that we don’t need to eat potato chips, oatmeal, butternut squash soup or broccoli, and they call them species-inappropriate food. But they taste so good! What, you don’t eat broccoli? I eat it with a lot more enthusiasm than the average six-year-old at a dinner table.

Ashton: Like anything else, if I gets something, Newton thinks he is missing out. See that jealous look peering up at me from the shadows? Like he thinks I don’t know he’s down there! But this broccoli is all mine.

Newton_watches_Ashton_and_broccoli_sm

Newton: Can I have some, too? Really? *sniff sniff* Are you sure this is what she was eating, because it’s not what I expected, but… well, okay…..

Some of us around here will KILL Maim and TRAMPLE to get the various following items: corn, cheese, doritos, donuts, pie crust, pizza (all kinds), sweet potatoes, spuds, celery, kale, breakfast cereal (the junky kind), and of course whatever the peeps are having for dinner. Oh, and pineapple and other sundry fruitables.

My human likes to eat spicy food and I have asked to give it a try but she refuses! Maybe she is just selfish.

Hannah loves freshly cooked chicken and would really like to eat it several times a day but Lucy doesn’t care for any human food very much at all – occasionally she’s been known to eat a minute piece of chicken but nothing else!

Our angel sisfur, Thelma, was a veggie cat. She especially liked the water left after Mom steamed the broccoli. Our angel brofur, Madison, had a strange passion for the brine from green olives, especially the garlic stuffed ones. Love these adorable photos. Mol Mol Newton…my sentiments exactly to mom…she has the most delish looking thing on her plate some times too. But somehow when the make it to my mouth they lose their appeal. I think she has a plate of rubbish on the table that she uses to treat me….

Delilah loves pizza and popcorn! Of course, she doesn’t get those very often — just the occasional bite every now and then 🙂

We really don’t eat much human food. We do love chicken and tuna though but not vegetables. So good for you kitties to eat your vegetables.
    Have a wonderful Tuesday.

Ewwww! That doesn’t look good but I’ve seen it listed in some of my grain-free kibble. I don’t know why. I don’t eat any of that stuff but I do love Chinese and Mexican food although the peeps won’t give me more than a sniff and even then they take all the sauce offa it.

I don’t like vegetables. There was carrots, beans and peas in the food I used to have. I used to throw them out of my bowl and leave them all over the floor.

Bird, feather, mouse, fur, broccoli….all good stuff….or so I’ve heard. Have you ever played with a hunk of broccoli stalk. It can be fun to bat around the kitchen or sink your teeth into.

We like cantaloupe, pineapple and peaches. I also like brussel sprouts. The kitty that came before was a pizza fanatic and would try to steal it from your plate! Mom said that was the only ‘naughty’ thing he did!
