Humans have a thing where an elf sits on the shelf of their house and reports their offspring’s misdeeds to the elf that brings gifts to the offspring on Christmas.
Clearly, this would never work for cats. For one thing, cats are never naughty. For another, any spying elves would find themselves in the litterbox in short order.
That’s why in our house, instead of having an elf on our shelf, we have a mouse in the house.
Wednesday…
Pierre: Is this thing supposed to be hiding? Stripes are camouflage for me, not a mouse wearing a red scarf.
Thursday…
Pierre: Hey! That’s my bed! What are you doing… oh, it’s YOU again.
Today…
Newton: Oh, so THAT is what Pierre has been talking about all week?
Newton: Report on my naughtiness at your peril! And be sure to tell your friends that an elf won’t work, either.
Newton: Mouse? No, I don’t think I saw one here. Did you check the refrigerator with the cheese?

Spying elfs would die a clawy death here! Christmas or not…
Ha, you’re good at keeping the peeps on their toes.
Ha! Binga would make short work of that thing.
You two boys are having fun with the mousie – we bet it had a good whapping!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
That is such a cute mouse and what a fun thing to do. You just never know where the mouse is going to pop up. Great game.
A mouse with antlers?? We bet he’s sneakier than that silly elf.
How fun!!! He sure is a little cutie 🙂
that mouse is in BIG trouble….
Bwwwah!!!!!!! Good job Newton!!!!!! But I have to admit, he IS cute!
xoxo
Now we have to keep an eye out for non-elfen spies!
MOL we love the mouse but NOT if he’s a SPY!
The Florida Furkids
That is a wily mouse! MOL
MOL! Cats are never naughty. For some odd reason, our mom found that funny.
That out n’ about mousie is way too cute!
We hope that mouse in the house isn’t taking any negative reports back to the big buy and the red suit! We know he wouldn’t because there couldn’t possibly be anything for him to report!!
Well done Newton ! Purrs
That’s right Newton, give it a good whap.
Better not send that mouse to our house because we’d always be in trouble.
You two are good mousers!
Wow that mouse gets around.
A snitch doesn’t last long in da hood.
LOVE IT!
what? no mouse elfs here either…. mol
oh goodness.. that was perfect.. or more punny, purfect..
well yanno, mice are known for having a cheese fetish…
we are just glad our mom didn’t get us the Mensch on the Bench – having a mensch roaming around the house would be just more than we could handle.
Hmmm, I think you’d end up with mouse somewhere in the house….under the couch, fridge, bookcase.
