Ashton would like to take this opportunity to thank whoever invented National Cheese Doodle Day, even though no one seems to know who it was. It’s one of her favorite holidays!
Newton: Oh, boy. A cheese doodle, and it’s all mine!
Ashton: ** tiptoes closer **
Newton: Hey, Ash, whatcha doing?
Ashton: Slowly back away from the cheese doodle and no one has to get hurt here.
Newton: Your cheese doodle? This is my cheese doodle!
Ashton: If you don’t go right now, I’m going to make sure the head peep finds the broken —
Newton: All right, all right. You can have this one.
Ashton: Oh, look. It’s a cheese doodle. All for me!
Ashton: I think I’m just going to take this somewhere safer to have my little snack. Ashton: ** CRUNCH ** Yum!
Don’t worry, Newton got a cheese doodle, too. He got his stuck to the roof of his mouth and it took him a while to work it free. He was never in any danger or distress, but it isn’t a snack he should eat unattended.
Cats may like occasional snacks of species-inappropriate food, but keep in mind that most human snacks are heavy on the calories, and they aren’t appropriate for more than an occasional taste by your cat.
The cheese doodles Ashton and Newton crunched in these photos are about ten calories each. Ashton ate two during the course of our photo shoot, which is over ten percent of the calories allotted to her daily on her weight loss diet. That’s kind of like you eating almost a whole hot dog and bun. So cheese doodles aren’t regular snacks around here for anyone… but we make an exception now and then for special occasions, like National Cheese Doodle Day!
Emma and Buster says
Emma is known to partake of a piece of Cheetos once in a while. Buster on the other hand surprisingly is not at all interested in human snax.

Caren Gittleman says
This is the Mom…I ADORE cheese doodles but have never given Cody one. Don’t know if it is the same way with cats, but I once gave Dakota store bought popcorn (from a healthy store), that had cheese on it and he became quite ill after. I always make my OWN popcorn with parmesan cheese (I pop it the old fashioned way in the microwave, not the pre=packaged stuff) and add my own cheese (this way I can control the ingredients) and he eats it with no problem. The time I bought the pre-made cheese popcorn I failed to read the ingredients and there is A LOT more in them than just cheese. Dakota (being a dog), normally has a great digestive system. The store bought popcorn caused him to be sick for a couple of days (and he did not eat much of it at all). I know how careful you are with your kitties, and they probably have had no ill-effects, I would just avoid that type of food.
Fur Everywhere says
We love cheese doodles around here, too! Like you, we don’t get them very often at all – only special occasions, but they sure are tasty, aren’t they? Angel Jewel would come and steal one out of the human’s bowl when she had some, MOL!
Robin says
My cats go crazy for cheese flavored anything! Personally, I don’t like to give them more than a lick or two from human junk food because of all the crazy stuff in it. I do, however, share actual pieces of cheese with them. They go nuts for string cheese!
Annabelle says
Miss Ashton I am so glad you got not one but TWO cheese doodles to enjoy on this one year day!
Brian Frum says
I don’t think I could resist either, but I’ll likely never see those here.

I have never had a cheese doodle, but that is probably because my mum has never heard of them. I do like a little bit of feta cheese though.

Kitties Blue says
National Cheese Doodle Day…who knew? None of us have ever had one. Lily was sitting in Mom’s lap a few days ago, grabbed a wheat thin off her plate, ate it, got up, walked three steps and threw it up. This is why we do not get human food. That doodle does look like it might be fun to bat around the house and watching it leaves orange dust in its wake.
