When you live in Florida this is the time of year that the days that you can leave the door open for the cats to go out onto the porch are coming to an end. It’s getting too warm and humid for that. So last weekend may have been the last chance for the cats to enjoy the porch for a while.
Ashton decided to make the most of it and caught a lizard.
Being a blogger, the first thing I thought to do was document the incident, so I grabbed my camera, turned on the flash since she was backlit by the outdoors, and started snapping photos.
I expected her to let the lizard go and then catch it again. That would have given me plenty of time to come to the lizard’s rescue.
Ashton had other ideas. She skipped directly to second breakfast.
Ashton: Did I miss any?
The moral of this little story is that when your cat catches something in the house, if you don’t want your cat to eat it, don’t grab a camera. Grab the cat and get the prey away immediately.
Ashton is none the worse for her little snack, and she has been hanging around the front door a little more ever since, just in case another lizard happens to run in. She’ll be right on it.
Lucky girl! I wish we would get a lizard or two coming in here! Sparkle caught several, but I have yet to see one.
Oh that’s too funny! I have made myself a note in case I ever find myself in a similar situation. We don’t have any little lizards up here. Love these photos.

Those not living in the Southern area of the US don’t realize how prevalent lizards are around our homes and how easily they sneak in and how they end up being someone’s breakfast or at the very least injured from ‘play’. Lizards are a big toy around here for sure!
Oh man! We wish we had leezards here. All we get in the house is spiders and centipedes and we bet they’re not as tasty.
Camera would’ve been the last thing on my mind! Screaming would’ve been the first! 🙂
We haven’t had exotic meat before. How did it taste Ashton?
MOL MOL MOL Ashton you are a much braver gal than I am. I will stalk and my mouth does that chitter chatter thing when I see a bug. But I never eat them. We don’t have lizards well we probably do but there is no way for them to get in.

My dad’s cats would say that Ashton has great taste! They live in Florida too and they like to eat lizards and give the heads to my dad (who is actually very proud of this for some reason). I hope that you enjoy your last bit of comfortable weather! It is finally getting comfortable up here.

Quite the hunter! Mine are adept at catching and eating things that fly (especially blind Lucy), but I have no idea what they would do with something like a lizard. Seems like they might be scared!
