Be Careful Where You Sit

The weather may be turning cold up north, but here in Florida, it’s still warm. You wouldn’t know it from the places Pierre hides.

So it is important to always be careful where you sit on our sunroom sofa.

That lump under the sofa cover does not like to be squished.

Pierre: Who are you calling a lump?

Nobody here does the lump thing – I think all of us realize just how careless the humans are!

We mostly like to snooze on our own but when it’s very cold we have been known to share a cushion or blankie together.

Oh Pierre, you are too cute! I always had to feel around on the bed before I sat down on it when Jewel was here – she loved to hide under the covers!

That is the cutest lump ever! Sometimes lumps form on our furniture around here, too, and they don’t liked being squished either.

Pierre, do you like to hide? From the orange menace or everyone?

Oz likes the top back of the sofa so no fear of squishing him…but oh, everyone needs to be careful where they sit at your house!

True story: Glogirly lived in a tiny efficiency apartment back in her college days. She’d just adopted Nicki, a tiny black kitten, and her girlfriend was coming over to meet him. She quickly cleaned up the apartment, which didn’t take long since her “bed” was a sofa bed. She folded it up and fluffed the cushions. When her friend arrived they made some tea and sat down on the sofa. While they were chatting away and catching up, Glogirly realized she hadn’t seen Nicki for a few minutes. And then they heard the tiniest of meows coming from… you got it… inside the sofa. They jumped to their feet and tore apart the sofa. There was Nicki, playing with his toy, happy as can be. Fortunately he was tucked down where there was plenty of space for him… but sheesh! It could have ended much differently. Shortly after that, Glogirly ditched the sofa bed and got a real bed for her AND for Nicki.

TW won’t let me lump. Last night I was helping her make the bed. She let me burrow for about five minutes and then uncovered me cos I have asthma. Pffftttt! I do burrow in my tissue paper to stalk her.

Eric was our sofa lump. He would burrow under the throw and nearly got sat on many times.

Some of us don’t even have to lump to get sat on. With a black couch, Elliott and Ivan (and William, too) have all been the victim of ‘bums are closer than they appear.’ Good that our couch is especially squishy!
