It was time for Ashton’s wellness visit to the vet, and she got some good news, and some bad news.
Ashton: Any trip to the vet that interrupts my beauty sleep is bad news!

The Good News
Ashton has a very friendly relationship with food. Any and all food. So it wasn’t surprising that her previous vet visit identified that she needed to work on losing a little bit of weight.
This vet visit, her first to our all-cat vet, she weighed in right where she should be.

Ashton: Did you read that? I’m ideal, so we don’t need to be here. Let’s go!

Visiting an all-cat clinic made a big difference in her level of fear during the visit. She will always be a fearful cat, but it was nice to see her less frightened. She was even willing to sit out in the open when no one held her there. She did keep a tight hold on the edge of the table, just in case.

The Bad News
In addition to the great news about her weight loss, Ashton got some not-so-great news, too.

With a tooth needing removal, Ashton has go back to the vet again next week.
Ashton: Hey, you don’t make an ideal cat go back to the vet! That’s not right!

We’ll talk a little more about cat teeth soon, but for now, let’s give Ashton a little time to absorb this news.
Ashton: Are you sure there’s not another cat named Ashton here who needs dental work and there’s a mix-up? This can’t be happening…

Oh darn! Dentals are no fun. đ
I am glad that everything else was good at the vets, Ashton. I am purring that everything goes well with your dental. Don’t worry though because it will make you feel much better a day or two later.
oh no….poor Ashton. geez – call you ideal and then make you come back. unfair we say!!!
Bummer…not right for an ideal cat to have to go back.
The Florida Furkids
Poor baby đ That’s just not right.
Congratulations on the weight loss. So sorry to hear about the dental, but at least it’s only one tooth.
Aww Ashton, it will be OK. Is not so bad I promise. I had all my teefs out and I can still chomp my brothers on the neck and show them whose boss. Us girl kitties hafta stick together. We can do FaceTime in our iPaws and I can tell you all about the surgery and how to get the best treatment out of your family when you get home. I got lots of tricks for you to use to even make your brothers treat you like a queen!
Love, Izzy
Mr Jinx will hold your paw Miss Ashton!
Ashton, I had my first dental after arriving here and I had to have one of my canines removed. Now every time I go for my yearly vet check, my vet admires my bootiful toofies. She says ” one and done” meaning she doesn’t think I will need another cleaning as I am now about 10-12 years old. Hope that’s the same for you. And I have always had the blessing of going to a cat clinic…isn’t it pawsome?
damaged premolar? Aston, what did you do!?
It is nice that they type that all out for you in nice clear language.so many vets rely on jargon and owners are often confused or undereducated about what is going on.
LOVE the photo of Ashton just sitting on the table – well holding the table. She is such a pretty girl.
Purrs for her dental.. may it go smoothly and she recover quickly
Ashton, you are adorable…hold on tight to the table edge! Every kitty we’ve ever taken to have dental cleaning, etc. was always SO HAPPY afterward…gotta keep your teefs in good shape!
Oh poop! We hope that dental goes well. You’re still ideal to us.
Bear feels your pain Ashton. He’s had three dentals over his life and he’s had double that in terms of teeth extracted. AND he has to put up with me brushing his teeth every day to do the best we can to prevent more dentals/extractions! Just because you have messed up genetics doesn’t make you any less purr-fect, we promise!
We never doubted that you were an ideal feline specimen, Ashton. But, we are sorry about your dental disease. Purrs to you and those teeth!
Great news on the weight loss sweet one. Think how much better you will feel with that bad tooth gone though!
Poor Ashton! Ifân youâre not hving problems eating, you shouldnât be forced to endure all that. TW is dreading taking me for wellness visit cos I has signs of dental plaque last year only they canât put me under cos theyâd have to lay me on my back.
I hear that 4 letter word d i e t too. But then I heard mom say as we age we need a tad extra ounces just in case we get sick…yada yada yada. She says she was talking about her and dad…but I took it to heart too. Ashton good luck with your dental
Hugs madi your bfff
Paws up for your wonderful general report, but sorry for the bad news about your teeth ! Good luck ! Purrs
Oh Ashton you poor sweetheart! That’s enough to make you WANT to eat!!!!
Poor Ashton. The tooth fairy will visit you though.
Poor Ashton! I’ve had my teeth cleaned twice now…and that’s two times too many in my opinion. And the mom says she may take me to a vet dentist soon. Argh! Hope all goes well for Ashton. ~Wally
Good news it good, Ashton! And about the toothie part? You will sleep right through it and only dream about fishies and birdies. Really!
Well, of course our typist meant “is,” not “it” (which makes no sense, even for her!).
Poor Ashton! But just think how much better your mouth will feel once that bad tooth is gone! Concats on the weight loss!
Hoo boy, dental work. We feel your pain, Ashton!
We are glad to hear that there is GOOD news too!
