Ashton’s Big Announcement

Ashton: I have something to show all of you. Are you sitting down? Okay, let’s go!

one-eyed brown tabby cat

Hey, what’s going on back there?

One-eyed brown cat is petted by a man's hand

That’s a manpeep hand touching me! I lived almost four years in the same house with the manpeep and wouldn’t let him put those things on me.

Well, OK, that’s a good spot.

One-eyed brown cat is petted by a man's hand

Mmmmmm, right there, too. It looks like manpeep hands are trainable. I never would have expected that.

A little lower, please.

Hey, wait, where are you going? Bring that hand back!

The Story Behind Ashton and the Man Hand

Ashton is a timid cat, and she is afraid of men completely. Up until now, she wouldn’t even let the manpeep touch her.

Four years after joining the family, she has finally chosen to let him pet her in the one location of the house she feels most confident: on top of the cat tree. Not anywhere else or any other time.

She has a long way to go, but this is a big step for a timid cat!

Paws up, Ashton! That is great news! Can I tell you something funny? Boodie had a vet appointment last week and right before she had to go, my human needed to go to urgent care because she couldn’t walk on her foot (it turned out to be just a soft tissue injury), so her boyfriend had to take Boodie to the vet. Boodie is the timid cat in the family, and he was convinced that she would hate him after the vet experience – but the total opposite happened! Now she hangs out MORE with him! You timid girls can do surprising things.

Yay ASHTON!!! Those manpeeps can be scary – okay, not really – but once you have a bad experience you don’t stick around long enough to find out. Manpeeps scare me too – I might come out to say a timid ‘hi,’ but then I disappear. I know my Momma would love to find a manpeep to share her life with – so one of these days I might have to make it work. She says to enjoy your Man Hands, they are just as special and are good alternatives when the ‘shes’ aren’t available … and all the time really … love is love wherever you find it <3
