The upcoming Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial beginning of summer, but for a lot of us, hot weather has already arrived. Our part of the country is already seeing weather over 90 degrees Fahrenheit (32 Celsius) every day.
As the weather starts to get that hot where you live, you can take a few extra steps to be sure you keep cats cool and comfortable in the heat.
My human says that when it gets hot here, it will be a challenge for us because she won’t want to take me outdoors in the middle of the day, but she also can’t take me out at dusk when it’s cooler because that’s when the coyotes are most active. We’ll see what happens – it’s still pretty cool and gloomy here.
That’s good advice! We have only just got to the low 50s here and wish it would warm up a bit.
Well, it’s not hot here but we know it’s coming. This is some good advice. We like to lay by the cold air blowing thingy when it gets real hot.
Morning friends…currently we are having a rainy, cool spell. We really needed the rain too. Truth be told I’m not a lap cat or a hugger. I will tolerate a hug as long as it doesn’t last longer than a nano second.

Great advice! We’re in the midst of a beautiful cool period but have already had some near 90 degree temps…and Truffles and I have already been griping about it!!!
It’s just hit 60 in the shade here and it feels hotter so there won’t be too much snuggling tonight!

These are great tips for keeping kitties cool. Jewel really liked ice water! Something else we do here is wet the kitty’s ears with a little cool (not cold) water. It helps them cool off a bit. 🙂

Emma loves to sit in front of the electric fan, Buster lounges on the cool tiles of the kitchen floor.
No heat stroke here in fact it’s been so cool we haven’t needed the a/c.

Very important! Mom always watches Allie when she’s out in the garden with her. If her nose gets reeeeally pink, in she goes. Occasionally, she’ll even pant! That’s for sure a banishment indoors!
Thanks for posting this! Lucky for us here, it’s always cool inside the house during the summer, so the cats and dogs are always good to go while inside. We always leave a door open for them to come back inside if they’re outside so they can come and go as they need. Nice blog! See ya around!
