The Irresistible Straw

Newton: We don’t get straws to play with very often, but we had an unfortunate Straw Incident where a whole box of drinking straws fell out of the pantry onto the floor. Instant cat party!

I especially love the little sound the straw makes when I whack it with my paw.

That’s it, no more mister nice Newton for you, straw. I’m going in for the kill!

My daughter’s one-year-old cat, Arata, plays with straws all the time. In fact, when she adopted him, they sent his favorite straw with him. I’m always grabbing extra straws when we stop for fast food for him, too. He has quite a collection, but has his favorites.

We are definitely missing out on the fun. We haven’t seen a straw in our house. Mebbe if one of us can get into the cupboard we’ll find some.

I tell you, Newton, too much of a good thing is BAD. I used to love straws when first innerduced to them. Now that I’ve collected a million of them, I don’t look at them.

The only straws in our house are the hard plastic kind that go in the cups with the holes in the top like the ones from that coffee place. Mom gets really mad when he take those out and lose them! I think a box of the ones like you have should be on our request list of kitty toys.

What wonderful photos. We do love straws as well. Mom uses one to breathe through when she is doing her P.T. exercises, and we love to bat it out of her mouth over and over again. Hope you deaded that one really well, Newton. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

Allie: Uhm, Newton, have you ever tried ASPARAGUS? Those stalks are soooooo much fun to play with! Mother finds them all over the house when they harvest them – especially if she forgets to put the min the fridge right away *giggle!*.
