Our window screens were in bad shape. Really bad shape.
Newton: I could fit through that hole, for sure.
The holes didn’t get there on their own. The neighborhood sand hill cranes like to peck at the windows, and once they make a small hole in the screen, they grab it and pull it out to make the hole even bigger. This resulted in some uncomfortably hot days in our house after hurricane Irma.
I decided to learn to fix them. It has been so hot outside that it wasn’t feasible to work on them there, so I threw a sheet down on the floor to use as a work space. Somebody thought I was just trying to play with her.
Cupcake: Did you need this stretched out? Let me help!
Cupcake: I’ll hold it down. You apply the tape.
Cupcake: I said apply tape, not touch my tail!
Cupcake: Who says this is scrap? This is the good stuff!
Even with all of the help, I managed to finish all but one screen. Now we just need cooler weather to come along so we can open those windows more often and not just in an emergency.

I’m so glad that you had help with those screens – who knows how they would have turned out without supervision?

We get plenty of “help” around here too!
Bear would be terrified if a big bird was ripping the screen off one of our windows! That’s so random that the birds peck on the window and rip the screen. This is even worse than the person with a koi pond that couldn’t figure out why all of her koi were disappearing … until one day she found a heron using her pond as a personal smorgasbord.
The Island Cats says
We can’t believe those birds did that kind of damage to the screens.

You’re such a good little helper, Cupcake!

William's Kith & Kin says
Cupcake, you make us laugh! We’ve helped our mom replace screens, too. Isn’t it fun?
Mark's Mews says
We make our own holes in the window screens. The windows aren’t available that often, but we pull at them as best we can when they are.
We are plannng night escapes…

Newton and mostly Cupcake are such good helpers ! What would you have done without them ? Purrs
