Cupcake’s outing on Saturday had some ups and downs. It started out well.
Good News
Her favorite coffee shop patio was open again after weeks of being closed due to painting. And she got some whipped cream from her favorite baristas.
Bad News
Then the painters arrived. At first, they were doing quiet painting things. Then the big noises started.
You can see the high lift behind Cupcake in the photo above. When it suddenly started beeping and moving, Cupcake was not happy at all. The party was over.
To try to end her outing on a positive note, we decided to do one of her favorite things: shopping.
Good News
We visited the big box pet store to see some her friends who work there. She also saw her bird friends who live there, at least until they find forever bird homes.
No, Cupcake, we can’t be a forever bird home.
Cupcake sprawled on top of the cat trees and let one of the passing customers play with her while I explained how Cupcake’s harness fits.
She also tested out some of the feather toys, but she can’t decide which is her favorite. She said she wants to think about it and try again next time we visit.
This wasn’t our most successful outing, but any outing that ends with grabbing feathers is one Cupcake calls a success. We can’t wait for them to finish painting the coffee shop patio so Cupcake can spend some time there. Hopefully before the end of the year.

Good for you, Cupcake, hanging in there like that! One of my human’s biggest concerns is that something will spook me and it will stick with me. So whenever I have an unpleasant experience, she immediately tries to give me a good time so I forget about the bad one quickly. I see your human did the same thing with you. Paws up!
That is a pity that the painters spoiled your good time, Cupcake. I am glad you got some good time in the pet shop after to finish on a high note.
Too bad the painters came and ruined your fun, Cupcake. At least you got your whipped cream before they showed up.
Those darn painters! At least you go to visit the birdies and play with feathers! That’s a win.
Though at least you know what sets her off….everything is a learning experience
Cupcake, when you’re all covered in whipped cream I could just eat you up! Glad your human was still able to make it a fun trip and I hope you got to bring something home with you toO!
We hope they get the painting done soon so you can enjoy your time at the coffee shop!

Cupcake you can make money testing cat toys you know!
Such a brave girl you are , Cupcake ! I bet Santa Paws will bring you feather toys for Christmas cuz you’re such a good girl !
That looks like a nice toy with the feathers.
Cupcake, sure looks like you had a good time with those feathers. It is so great that your Mom takes you out and about. Have a good day.
You are lucky, Cupcake, to get to go out shopping. You must be a good cat to be allowed out in public like that. Whipcream is always tasty!
Looks like a good time to us!
Hope you are having an easy Monday((smooch))
We hope the painting is quickly done. That feather toy looks like a lot of fun ! Purrs
Painting is noisy? CC, you aced it like you ace everything else.
Seriously, doesn’t that coffee shop know that they are messing with Cupcake’s routines? Honestly, they need to rethink what they are doing!
*snicker*
Look at that whipped cream on your little face, Cupcake! MOL!
Those painters should have waited until you left to start working! But at least you got to have fun at the pet shop.
At least you got some whipped cream, right Cupcake?! Looks like you had a ton of fun in the pet store. Bear loves feathers too … Ellie not so much.
