Cat toys line the shelves at pet stores, all shiny and new. The head peep (and especially our aunt peep) buy us more toys than cats really need. Sure, the catnip mice, cat dancers, kragonflies, and krinkle balls are fun. But let’s face it… there’s nothing quite as fun as a found toy.
The found toy has the thrill of the hunt. It has the extra spice of discovery. And of course, it has the bonus of frustrating the peeps when we decide to play with it instead of the expensive new toy they just bought us.
Newton: Let me illustrate with the canned food label that I stole from the kitchen counter.
We hope you find some great toys to play with while you wait for the weekend to start!
Rascal and Rocco says
Ah yes, magnets stolen from the fridge are a big fave here. I used to blame the kids, but I found the real culprits who leave them all over the floor.
Fur Everywhere says
Found toys are cool! Sometimes mommy will make me a paper ball and I just go nuts for it!! I get as much entertainment out of a paper ball as I do the expensive catnip toys, MOL!!

Hannah and Lucy says
Our favourite toys are Mum’s shopping bags – as fast as she tries to unpack her goods we are jumping in and and giving everything a good whap or a sniff or a lick.

That is so so true. Nothing better than a label or the top from the milk carton or just any little thing. It is amazing what is fun. Have a super day.
The Island Cats says
Seriously, the best toys are the ones you find after being missing for awhile! We’re off to look for some.
Laila and Minchie says
We totally agree new found toys are the bestest!
Angel Abby says
It’s always the things you least expect that they enjoy the most. YOU have fun Newton (which I can see you are!)
Colehaus Cats says
Hmm, we hadn’t thought of that one! Usually, we steal straws and mail tags. That next label is OURS! Have a fun weekend! Purrs…
Annie says
Newton, you are one cool dude to have fun with that label! I wish Annie would find joy in simple and found toys. She doesn’t like much so there’s no joy in finding anything. Anyway, you’re so cute there.
Caren Gittleman says
nothing better than finding a toy that was never meant to be a toy! MOL!
Emma and Buster says
our pawrents don’t buy us any more toys because we don’t play with them. we still have a a few toys that are still sealed. what we love are rolled up papers and what ever we find in the house.

I want everything TW is holding. Sometimes she’ll drop it on the floor for me. I usually don’t play with it then. I have to find it myself.
Lee County Clowder says
The tops of milk cartons, pop bottles, and the like can be great toys.
Flynn says
Oh yes! If a leaf blows indoors, that is my favourite toy. Of course I also love to dive in a big pile of leaves and scat them in autumn after mum has raked them into a nice pile.
Whisppy says
Hah! That found toy must have been fun to bat around. Did it taste good too? Tutu’s favorite “found toy” is Mommy’s sock. She plays with it every single day! And now poor sock is all holey.
Clooney says
That is just the greatest Newton! Neytiri loves playing with labels and paper too!
Kitties Blue says
We like to hide our found toys under the rugs and the refrigerator. Where do you like to hide yours? Our favorite things are pens and pencils, of course, but we also like bag ties and granola bar wrappers and corks. What’s your favorite?
