I came to say that was an excellent comment on the CB today (Saturday). I have been on both the receiving and giving ends here in the CB (donations and auction for Derry’s $1255 dental bill back in June 2010 and in my case, I both sent everyone a thank you card for the initial donations, and later, for the auction, emailed everyone individually my deepest thanks. I’ve donated many, many times over the past several years, though not huge amounts (not in my budget to do so), and I can count on fewer than 5 fingers those who emailed me individually (from auctions–separate donations are another matter). However, most do, at least, express general appreciation to everyone.
I would say be cautious but don’t give up altogether on helping out if you feel you want to. Not everyone is so ungracious.
And with respect to the individual being referenced in the comments, I have observed drama with that person before, though not nearly to this extent, and personally shy away from it.
Now that we “awwwed” over Ashton, we are going to “awww” over Cousin Nellie. Finally hurricane season is over! That Sandy was a real stinker.
