If you follow Cupcake’s adventures on Cats Going Places on Facebook, you might remember she had a new admirer recently.
Rocco is about Cupcake’s size, and he has been super-curious about the cat lounging in the chair and getting attention from all the passersby. His human has always been careful to keep him at a little bit of a distance, because he was concerned that Rocco’s enthusiasm might be too much for Cupcake.
This weekend, I reassured Rocco’s human that Cupcake would be fine as long as Rocco didn’t jump up into her chair with her. When Rocco walked up to the chair where she sat, Cupcake crept close to the arm of the chair so she could get a better look at him.
Rocco got up on his hind legs and poked his head under the chair arm. He was a little distracted at the scent of treats on her blanket. Sorry, Rocco, Cupcake doesn’t leave treats hanging around for long.
Rocco and Cupcake took a long look at each other. You can see that Cupcake’s whiskers were relaxed and she wasn’t afraid of the dog at all.

Cupcake didn’t seem inclined to hop down and play with Rocco, as much as he would have liked that, but they won’t hesitate to say hello to each other again next time they are both at the coffee shop for a visit.
I’m good with polite dogs too! Of course, since most of the dogs I meet are therapy dogs, they are usually pretty polite. I’m glad Cupcake decided that Rocco was okay by her!
