We have tried many remedies for Cousin Earl’s naughty habit of scratching on the carpet (thank you all again for your great suggestions). We are attempting to give him an option to stretch out and scratch, constructively, instead of destructively like he does to the carpet.
He wasn’t afraid of his new friend, so that was a win right off the bat. Cousin Earl is easily spooked, so him taking a quick liking to the scratcher, fresh out of the box, is huge!
We didn’t expect him to scratch right away. He just sat there. Sniffing and looking.
Then he turned around and did the same thing again.
He got off on the far side and we thought he was going to go under like a tunnel (that is all he uses the Ess for), but Cousin Nellie came by and he decided to stalk her instead. Boys! What are you going to do?

You need a stealth cam!
Wow! that’s an awesome scratcher!!
That’s a scratcher we’d like to get our claws into!!
Gees, that’s an awesome scratcher!
We have a slew of scratchers and kitty condos around the house, but Nicki still likes the carpet. That’s okay by our mom, though, since the carpet (came with the house) is cr*ppy anyway. LOL.
That looks like a great scratcher – Hannah is always good and uses a scratcher but Lucy who mostly uses the scratcher does have an occasional carpet binge!! Mum shouts and says norty words which stops her as she has to put her paws in the ears!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx
Woah that is one impressive scratcher. We hope you like it.
What a great-looking scratcher! We’ll have to investigate that kind ourselves! Paws crossed it’s used well! Purrs…
