BlogPaws 2015 Kitty Wrap-Up

The head peep is back after leaving us for several days to attend BlogPaws, the conference for pet-related social media. She had a great time seeing all of the humans at the conference, but the best part was seeing all of the cats in attendance.

While the conference was still majority dogs and dog bloggers, the small cat contingent put on a respectable showing, especially when you consider that there’s no way she would get us to get into a carrier of put up with all of those dogs. It takes a very special cat to be a good traveler like that, and it takes a special human to in tune with the cat so that it’s a good experience for everyone.

One of the very special cats who was at the BlogPaws conference is Sophie from Kitty Cat Chronicles, pictured here with her human, Emily.

Emily and Sophie In addition to being gorgeous, Sophie has cerebellar hypoplasia, which makes her whet is known as a “wobbly cat.” As a result, she may stagger or fall down when she walks, but she is undeterred and continues to be friendly and outgoing. She went around the conference either on a leash or in a sling.

Another cat who rode around in a sling some of the kind was Summer, from Sparkle Cat Featuring Summer. As a veteran show cat, Summer took all of the crowds and noise in stride. When she was in her sling, it was often just her nose poking out.

Summer in slingSummer preferred to be on a leash where she could greet everyone, including this kitten, Queso. Queso wasn’t as thrilled to meet her as she was to meet him.

Summer meets QuesoQueso was one of three foster kittens who attended the conference from Random Felines, and despite his discomfort at meeting Summer in the photo above, he was actually amazing around crowds of strangers and even dogs. He even fell asleep during the dinner before the Nose-to-Nose Awards were announced, curled up in a handy camera strap.

Queso asleep in camera gearWhen little Queso was awake, he turned on powerful amounts of cute.

Queso shows off his cuteSo did his brother, Salsa.

SalsaHis sister, Tostada, had some serious cute going on, too.

TostadaAll three eight-week-old kittens will be up for adoption soon, and some families are going to be very lucky to have these little kittens to share their lives.

Another cat who was out and about in his handsome, green stroller quite often during the conference is Herman Tattlecat, from It’s a Wonderpurr Life.

Herman_tattlecat_wmAnother attendee at BlogPaws was Katie from Glogirly. This was her first conference, and she made several outings in the “Katie Wagon.” She was uncertain around strangers who visited her room, as her body language says in the photo below.

Katie_wmWhere there’s Katie, there also has to be Waffles.

katie_waffles_02_wmThe big guy just keeps getting bigger and redder, and possibly more handsome.

WafflesThere were a couple cats that we don’t have photos of from the conference, even cellphone photos. One is Russell from Ask Fisher, who was often seen wheeling around the halls in his stroller. Another is Coco the Couture cat. How we managed to send a human there and end up with no photo of Coco, who was seemingly everywhere, is incomprehensible. Good help is hard to find.

Finally, there was one cat who didn’t have a name, but did have an uplifting message. The humans spotted this orange cat in the parking lot on their way back from breakfast on Thursday. Even though he would not let them get close to him, it was clear that the cat had been eartipped, which means someone was doing TNR (trap, neuter, return) on the the wooded hillside next to the hotel.

TNR Cat at Sheraton Music City, Nashville TNThat’s the story about cats attending BlogPaws this year. All that’s left is for us to dive into this year’s swag from the conference. So if you’ll excuse us…

I was so excited to see the other kitties there – especially Sophie! She’s the only one I got to touch noses with. I was a little disappointed Queso was scared of me. I would have been perfectly happy to be pals. 🙁 I hope that next year, there will be even more kitties!

That’s so cool about the stray at the hotel. I think he must have sensed there was a gathering of people that would appreciate him and made an appearance, hehe.

Thank you for all the pics. I saw several kitties but didn’t realize just how many were in attendance! Maybe next time I will sneak into the cat lounge to get some kitty time. I lost my cat a few years ago and I often miss having one even though Pug gives me all the attention I could ever want.

Love how you showcased the kitties in attendance! Actually, this year, the cat contingent was the biggest ever (I believe I am correct on that!) Glad to see that and being on the East Coast helped.

Do you believe that prior to reading about this conference I had never even heard of Herman?

I am good friends with Russell’s Mommy….what I love that she does is that she travels with her cats to all sorts of events (not just pet-related ones) all year, so Russell and her other kitties are not only used to travel, they greatly enjoy it!

I would have loved to meet Sophie and Katie, and yes, Waffles got HUGE!

I also love that you featured a kitty less fortunate …wonder if it picked up on the scent of all of the cats in attendance?

    Wonderful post!

I really wanted to meet Sophie and her person, but never ran into them. One thing I learned for next year – plan ahead and have all the numbers of special bloggers you want to meet ahead of time. I thought I would just naturally run into people, but that didn’t really happen.

Great kitty photos. Mom never saw Waffles at all and only glimpsed Katie in her stroller. She was quite disappointed, but she did get lots of photos of CoCo in various outfits. It was fun to have so many more kitties at BlogPaws this year. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
