A couple weeks ago, Cathy Keisha posted about using mackerel mode on a camera to get better images. The head peep has been playing with this with a lot of success. Normally, she takes her photos on her eye-phone, because it’s usually close at hand. But if she uses her old digital camera’s mackerel mode (which uses a symbol of a tulip for some reason), she gets a lot more clear detail.
Talk about detail… If you click to embiggen this photo, you can actually see the loose furs on top of Newton’s head because the head peep scritched him and didn’t pull them off before taking the picture. How embarrassing for Newton.
You can also get a really good closeup of all of the hair that Newton deposited on the cat tree that the head peep didn’t clean off before taking pictures or Photoshop out of the photo. It’s so hard to get good help.
Anyhow, paws up to CK for reminding the head peep that the camera had something other than point-and-shoot mode. If the head peep is going to be chasing us around with a flashy box, the least she can do is make us look good.
That’s it for today. Except Newton had one last message for all of you…
Newton: Hello, ladies…
Whisppy says
We aren’t sure if we want Mommy taking photos of us in Mackerel mode! Can you imagine the details of our eye boogers if she did? We’re pretty sure no one wants to see that! 😉
Oh, and HELLO there, Newton!
The Island Cats says
Wow, that mackerel mode really gets up close and purrsonal. It captures your handsome face well, Newton.
Hannah and Lucy says
Wow Newton you look fantastic – Mum’s not too sure about mackerel mode because the carpet usually has more hairs on than we do!
Luv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

Newton
Our Momma keeps as her prime len on her DSLR the macro lens because she loves to shoot close ups. Extreme close up, especially of nature, and hey we’re all natural so that includes us too. We think too that is the best way to photograph all kitties! Glad you had such good success!
Cathy Keisha says
Oh Newton, I’m feeling all fainyty! I got a shoutout from a really handsome mancat with loose fur on his head which only gives you a more rugged appearance. Wonder why the Mackerel setting doesn’t have a fish for an icon. Who can figure out how peeps think.
Cats of wildcat woods says
Great pics of a very handsome Newton!
Nerissa's Life says
Hehehe… HOHOHO… Silly me! At first, I thought you were talking ’bout fish! I have GOT to pay more attention. MOUSES!

We will tell TBT about that mackerel mode setting. We mean, if he is GONNA take pictures of us, we might as well look our best!
Flynn says
Lovely pictures of Newton.
Oui Oui says
Wow, we never knew! Thanks for telling us. Maybe the mom will get motivated and find her digital camera, then maybe charge it, after finding the cord??? Don’t worry about Newton’s hairs! If we cleaned all the shed furs up, that would be all we did!
Kitties Blue says
Newton, we ladies think you are particularly dashing and are enamored by that one black whisker. It adds such an air of sophistication to your man-catliness. Purrs and hugs, Lily Olivia, Mauricio (I’m not a lady cat, and you don’t do anything for me.), Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo
Timmy Tomcat says
Those are some very nice Mackerel photos fur sure!
We thought that was the Stink Eye setting fur when we are purrturbed.
Thanks fur the lesson
