Cupcake loves meeting new friends, but we weren’t sure how it would work out meeting Santa. She usually sticks close to her trusted humans when she is out of the house, and in order to get a photo with Santa, she would have to sit with a human she didn’t know.
When we arrived at the pet store, we heard “Cupcake!” from the checkout desk, followed by, “Are you here to see Santa?” It was too late to turn back now. The manager introduced Cucpake to a few employees who hadn’t met her while we were in line, then it was time to meet the guy in the red suit.
Cupcake wasn’t so sure about being held by a complete stranger. Instead of looking at the camera, she looked for someone she knew.
Cupcake: I noticed you have a photo of a dog under that tree.
When she started to show signs of making a run for the cat tree display, we decided we had gotten the best photo we were likely to, and I took her back.
This is her official Santa photo, with her leash partly Photoshopped out. We may look for Santa again later in the season where she can sit next to him instead. She needs more practice with being held by strangers before any more Santa lap-sitting is successful.
The whole experience was a good way for all of us to learn a bit more about skills Cupcake needs practice a bit more.

I confess – my first visit with Santa when I was a kitten was an even worse failure! They couldn’t even get a photo of me at all, and I had Complaints. Since I am so much better at meeting people now and getting out and about and it’s been a couple of years, we are going to try again. I hope it is more successful, or I will be majorly embarrassed!
Cats Herd You says
Wow, Summer! Knowing what an outgoing kitty you are now, I feel a lot better about my photo not being as perfect as the humans hoped. ~ Cupcake
Random Felines says
that last one isn’t so bad. mom thought about taking Chanel to meet Santa but gives it about a 10% chance of success. like Cupcake, she isn’t so big on being held (gotta work on that)
Melissa & Mudpie says
What a sweetheart! The last one is adorable. (Don’t feel bad, Cupcake. My parents just reminded me again recently that I used to be freaked out by Santa too! He’ll still visit your house anyways.)
The Island Cats says

Cathy Keisha says
You got a good one at the end. Poor CC. I would have thought she got used to being held by strangers at Blogpaws or was that your brother being passed around.
Patzy and Miss Juliea says
The best way to get a pet to pose with Santa is to have their humans involved. Heck out my post where my brothers family posed with their dogs with Santa. That way they won’t be so afraid.
Patzy and Miss Juliea says
I meant “check out”,not heck out. MOL
Connie - Tails from the Foster Kittens says
that is actually pretty impressive. Good job not clawing up Santa, Cupcake
